Hello,

every six months or 5000 kms dba? But what do you do if it takes forever to reach 5000 kms? wouldn't it screw up your sched?

what if after a year, I'm just at 8000 kms? should I have the PMS now? is it just oil change? (since wear and tear of components are minimal pa naman) or wait for 10,000?

actually dapat 5000 or three months whichever comes first. first 10,000 pa lng ba?

as much as possible you have to change oil every 3 months or 5000 kms, which ever comes first, there is water build up and carbon build up and you don't want to leave that in your engine for a long time especially for low mileage cars. Kahit change oil ok na.

Sa manual its time or mileage whichever comes first, every 3months yata nga yun most of the time depending on the vechicle that you have. Check your manual.

Change oil should be base on the KM. mileage not every three months.

yup di mapapanis, but even if you start your engine everymorning may water buildup pa rin yan especially for mineral based oils and you don't want those in your engine for a long time, if you check your manual (for most cars in our market) if says there that you should change your oil every 5000 kms or 3 months. It may be different if you use a fully synthetic oil... just make sure your on the safe side, sa huli palagi ang pagsisisi

syntheric naman oil ko. ang tanong ko lang is yong maintenance ng ibang parts? like replacement of brake fluid, brake pads, etc.... mileage yon? baka kasi magkaleche-leche yung sevice record ko.

yeah, first 10,000 palang (well, 8000 palang). It would take a few more months to get to 10,000 actually and my car turned 1 yr old last month.

ok lang yan. ako nga fully synthetic din inabot ng 14 months bago nag-log ng 10,000 km (for 30tkm service). e bakit ko papalitan yung oil every 3 months or even 6 months e good for 10tkm yun.

condensation? sa fuel tank oo may condensation, pero sa engine? minimal yan. saan papasok ang wet air? sa air intake? nope, sarado ang throttle. sa oil filler cap? may seal yun. meron man pumasok na water vapor sa breahter at mag-condense it will be so minimal that it will evaporate when you use your car.

carbon build up? nope. modern oils can have the carbon particles that it washed away from the engine surfaces kept in suspension for a very long time. besides, for as long as you use your vehicle occasionally then you need not worry. at pag may carbon build up you should be looking at another thing, its cause. di naman magkaron ng excessive carbon kung hindi pa excessive ang blow-by ng makina. and since new, low mileage ang car mo hindi pa naman sigurado blow-by yan.

What we use:
For vehicles with odometers, we follow a mileage-based schedule
For vehicles with non-functioning odometers, a calendar-based schedule is used.

Since most of the vehicles run low kms, medyo napapatagal ang interval. Yung mga daily drivers lang (like my rig) ang medyo rigid ang maintenace.

Pero if you are going to be idealistic about it, the operative word in the manual is "WHICHEVER COMES FIRST"

ganun rin kami, lahat ng sasakyan namin, mileage based ang oil change intervals. never kami sumunod sa time based. sayang kasi oil. never had problems with our practice.

Actually I'm also using synthetic Mobil 1 but according to my friend here abroad who used to work in some European Cars like : SAAB, BMW and others synthetic Oil can last up to 10Kms, but for your own it is safe to change only the OIL FILTER rather than the OIL itself since these oil are more costly than the FILTER. So, for me for 1year 12K lang ang reading ng Kms kaya every 6 months palit lang ng Filer then Tap up Oil to compensate the level, kasi after filter change malinaw na naman Oil mo

yup tama si otep, follow your manual, thats why dalawa ang naka-indicate sa manual..either a calendar one or a mileage reading...whichever comes first

Better safe than sorry... you could end up like those US Toyota owners with broken engines...
