I have been in Baler and I swear the place was very "virgin".
Food is cheap, especially the one from the sea. I have bought a Php60 per kilo of Blue Marlin as our pulutan. But that was 4 years ago. hehehe.
We rented a two bedroom kubo near the beach for only Php50 per night.
What I know about Dicasalarin, is that it is owned by the Angaras.

wreckless,
Mazda Van yung dala namin noon (May 1997 ata).
We left MeycaBu at around 6am. We arrived at Baler town proper at around 5pm. Travel time include one lunch break in the middle of Sierra Madre. I ate Ginataang Jungle Eel.
Road was rough and muddy at that time. I don't know if it is cemented already.
Maraming pasyalan dun. Merong falls dun hindi ko lang matandaan yung pangalan. Yung Charlie's Point. Tapos yung parang Island na Bato. Pag marunong kang mag-surf pwede rin! Yung Gigantic tree! Malinis yung tubig sa kanal at free flowing yung tubig sa gripo!

September 5th, 2003 01:00 AM #19yup, was there oct last year...perfect timing sort of. as we drove out of Baler, back to Manila, the rainy season hit Baler. the surf was up (its a very popular area for surfers), the rain was pouring in sheets! nag river-crossing pa nga kami bigla while trying to see the biggest Balete tree in the Philippines. an oversized jeepney and a truck was stuck in the river when we crossed, and luckily we came through ok. but we were nervous cuz the water just kept on climbing, hehehehe
anyway, that pix u showed was taken from the pag-asa station. the rocky trail leading up to it, is short but very fun! to go to the beach, we had to leave our 4x4s behind dahil closed yung road that time for upgrading, so nag-motorized banca lang kami to Dicasalarin beach. the river that leads to the beach is so clean and clear, you could soak in it the whole day!
tapos, beach run kami ng beach run! wheee!
man, Baler is a must! you will love it there.
