I would like to think that people are intelligent enough to know that there are two types of engine mechanics, mainly gasoline and diesel.

Although there are only a handful of these diesel mechanics, a great number of gas mechanics pretend to know it all such that they try to do something which they don't have the knowledge on nor the tools to do it.

So pls., if you value your vehicle and how you maintain it, look for an appropriate mechanic. You can tell from his advises or diagnosis what kind is he anyway.

Like this post from a supposedly knowledgeable guy..

Yong may crack yong cyl head. Pag matigas. Singaw or may crack na radiator mo.

Kailangan nakadisconnect yong shut off Solenoid. <-------------read last statement........

Diesel mechanics are very different from that of gas mechanics. I asked my brothers' car mechanic one time while he was top overhauling the gas engine of my brothers' car a question kung kaya ba nya mag-overhaul ng diesel engine. Well buti pa sya honest and sinabi nya sa akin na dalhin ko na lang sa diesel specialist ang ride ko. From then on naging interested ako sa difference ng dalawa at nalaman ko na malaki nga ang difference.

Gas and Diesel Mechanic, how can you tell?
