i was over at chevrolet alabang having my brakes replaced the other day. was talking to the agents there and i was told a couple of 07 tahoes and an indented suburban is on its way to the PI!! and it will be officially offered next year. i was told that suburban prices will start at 3.5m

the new chevy tahoe and suburban will be powered by the a 5.3 liter v8 with the new AFM (active fuel management) system which like the MDS will shut down 4 of the 8 cylinders when cruising to save fuel.

i have seen one here sa town center.. a white suburban... 8 ang plaka hhhmm...

The 5.3L and 6.0L V8 used in the Tahoe and Suburban has the Active Fuel Management technology. In situations where extra power is not needed like cruising down on flat highways, the engine deactivates 4 of the 8 cylinders to save on fuel. Also, GM will release the Tahoe and GMC Yukon Hybrids with 23-25MPG fuel consumption on a large V8 engine (joined by 2 electric motors). I hope this model will also reach the Philippines.

It would have been more environment friendly if they just used a Bosch CRDi VGT engine which far far more efficient than a petrol V8. 6L?? come on! a 2.5 or 3.0L CRDi VGT engine could easily do the trick of hauling that oversized ass. Unfortunately, diesel is not widely used in America. It seems, that country still prefers to pollute the planet while Europeans, Asians, Americans (some, mostly intelligent ones) et al are trying to save the planet. Ironically, we see a lot of Hollywood movies portraying USA saving the planet from Aliens Asteroids and whatnot. hehehee.

Imagine the petrol (which is NOT energy efficient btw) needed for takeoff for something that big.

Hybrids aren't a good option either. Aside from being insanely expensive, you'd still be doing the rat race of finding where to dispose the power storage cells when you replace them. I bet, another american company would be put up to manage that. hehehe.

Funny, i found some tahoe videos off YouTube.
