I just wanted to share with you guys what I saw today on my way home from Cavite at the SLEX. It was raining hard and traffic was bad heading into Manila. I was stuck in traffic when a Safari passed me on the right shoulder. When he insisted on passing another vehicle that was also on the shoulder he went into the grassy portion. Since this is sloped sideways, his vehicle started to slide and sank into the fresh mud. Apparently, he thought that having a 4x4 meant he could take it practically anywhere. This is almost always true but NOT on H/T tires! He was just spinning in place and was not going anywhere. Poor guy. there was a tow truck about 200 meters away just waiting to pounce on his unwilling victim. Not one kilometer away. I was again witness to another brave motorist. he had the newer Patrol with matching wang wang. He passed on the median naman. Guess what? Same story except he slid all the way to the V section of the median. Kawawang pasahero! I guess the moral of the story here is to make sure the vehicle is properly attired (correct "shoes") so you don't look ridiculous as other motorists pass you by. More importantly, one needs to bear in mind that the vehicle is only as good as the person behind the wheel. I wanted to help pero malakas yung ulan eh. So ngumiti nalang ako sa kanila at pumila sa linya ng traffic! By the way, this is not an indication of the performance capabilities of the Patrol. Ungas can vouch for this. It is more an indication of the capabilities and sensibility of the driver. Sayang wala akong offroad clinic handouts na maibigay!;)

Hey! I was also there around 1pm. Exiting from Carmona ramp, the traffic was horrible. There were 3 Patrols on the median overtaking, 2 GQs and a 4x2 GU with wide offroad tires. Though I did not get to see what Wolverine was pertaining to, it was a good idea for the GU not to follow us. Or else he could have been the third one stuck. A couple of fender benders added to the traffic approaching Southwoods exit.

Either northbound or southbound routes are clogged, dami kasing usisero, kaya bumagal ang takbo ng trapiko.

Pero saya ng offroad escapade kanina! 2 kaming GQs dun sa gitna walang gusto o nagtangkang sumabay. Meron isang Ford Laser balak sumunod sa akin, kaso nung nakita nya muddy situation and I was literally swaying sideways natakot sumunod. :p

with H/T tires... if you reduced the air pressure, would it be able to get out of the mud? (with the given situation)

H/T won't help specially with the grassy terrain and some loose muds. Add the heavy downpour encountered. A/Ts could do help you out but it all boils down to the driver and his rig, just like Wolverine posted.

I got stuck there also early this afternoon... took the southwoods exit then headed to the old highway to re-enter at Susana.

When i saw the traffic, i decided to let the driver who was with me that time take the reigns so i could get some much-needed sleep as i was on the road since 430am.

All I know is that the guy was not going fast. Traffic kasi. This is normal when there is no lateral traction on the tires. He could have tried to rock his vehicle out by repeatedly shifting forward and back but he was just stepping on the gas the whole time praying his tires would bite. Not a chance!! tapos nakaliko pa ang gulong completely so there's no chance for it to move.

I'm not saying it could have made a world of difference.

H/T tires are not really good for anything else other than hard tarmac.
