Have you ever experienced something like this:

    1. When running 100 to 120kph, breaking down slowly to reduce speed will in turn make your vehicle shake as in shaking that the wiper blades also shake.

    2. Squeaky fan belts.

    3. Although making an 18 L/km, engine tends to respond late on stop and go like motion. I know it's and A/T but this is different.

    Replies would be highly appreciated.

We dont have a Sedona but i've driven one before (2001 model, automatic)... I noticed that the engine really lags from when you accelerate from standstill. I think part of it could be due to the weight as I read before in C/D that the Sedona is quite heavy.

sa akin naman starex 99 a/t....mdyo similar ito sa carnival, ewan ko lang sa sedona na u.s made......same tayo sa breaks.... kapag 100 mph takbo mo lalo na sa highway....pag inapakan mo break pedal mangiginig talaga ang buong car.... i think this is normal due to the vans weight.

carnival A/T , no shuddering when braking from 100 kph, average fuel consumption is 9-10 kilometers/liter, but my belts are squeaky when i start it the morning, once it has warmed up. wala na? anyway why did you ask?

    00 carnival a/t 88,000

no squeaky belts (replaced at 65t km)
shuddering brakes only at really low speeds
    consumption 10kpl highway 7kpl city

    engine responds late if
(a.) You are used to a gasoline vehicle or
(b.) your air filter is really dirty and is clogged na. replace it na.

Doc Diesel::: This may offer some kind of help:

    1. Brake pads not balanced due to wear and tear. Does your unit have drum at the rear? If so, rear pads have tendencies of uneven wear resulting heavy vehicle shaking. Try to change brake pads. Or have the front discs check for any warp.

    2. Squeaky fan belts, it maybe adjusted too tight for the belts or a pulley is misaligned.

    3. Restricted stock filters? Too high back pressure from exhaust pipes? Wait a minute here... you were suppose to check the fuel delivery system at your shop right?

I'm doing this as a favor to a client. We've already checked the fuel system and even found out that it was below the specs. so we calibrated it.

yung braking, squeaky fan belts and late acceleration has been a nagging problem for this client of ours. he has gone back to the casa for countless times and still no remedy to the problems. In fact the squeaky fan belt came out after the casa did something on the engine that was not supposed to be done.

He's asking me to ask a few friends who has the same vehicle for opinions and or comments which might be useful for him.

Base from my experience, brake shudder occurs on drum brakes when the upper part is thinner than the lower parts. Only solution is to change them or re-bond the pads. If the rears are on disc, culpirt would have to be the front discs, overheating could cause little warpage tht tend to shake the whole vehicle.

Baka po in-adjust ng casa yung belts, either too tight or too loose for the belt to get some grip on the pulleys. Try using ribbed belts or some belt grip type adhesives.

    HTH :D

carnival 2000 matic, no to items 1 &2,#3 should be expectd, i guess, with a heavy, matic diesel van. solved mine by replacing air filter w/ k&n.it now accelerates like a gas-powered,manual sedan

Brake shudder can also occur if your rotors are warped. And it being a Kia, medyo madali mag-warp ang rotors niyan. I warped mine in a year.

2003 Sedona LS manual, 2 months pa lang pero after reading yung problem ng client ni doc diesel, worried na ako. So far, minor problems pa lang ang experience ko, like misaligned arm rest, defective ash tray cover, weak foot brake.

    hi altec.

come to think of it, my foot brake was also weak when i first got the unit from the factory... mahina yung kapit pag downhill yung parada ko. had it adjusted at the casa during my first PMS, and its been all right ever since.

mikey, ok na ang foot brake ko, so with the others I mentioned. So far, the only other thing I am not satisfied with is the wipers. Parang luma, it leaves a film for a second or two if you set it at intermittent before it disappears. The problem is if continuous ang wipers, continuous din ang film. Don't notice that with my other cars epecially kung bagong palit. Ganun ba talaga? What the casa did was to tighten it daw, whatever it meant. Pero ganun pa rin
