converted vehicle is not the issue here its the driver. ma converted o hindi nasa desiplina yan. Kaya wag natin sisihin ang converted na van at suv. Mine I got a bighorn pero matino ako mag drive ano ngaun kung converted ang SUV ko. I have a reason why I bot the converted SUV because I can't afford to buy the Local SUV pero oks lang as a converted vehicle owner I know my responsibility what safety measure to make it safe check the condition of my vehicle in A1 condition as in local one. Kasi when I read this post most sinisisi ang converted vehicle the accident in so on. Dito sa pinas ang dami talagan walang desiplina mag drive dito mapa public or private kaya maraming naaaksidente. Most nga mga kabataan mapupusok walang takot magpatakbo puro car racing ang nasa isip mapa converted o hindi.

the problem with most converted vehicle owners is iniisip nila na maalaga naman ang mga hapon and siguradong in tip top condition ang vehicle nila kahit 2nd hand. ang hindi nila iniisip is the convertion is done here in the philippines. and sa dami ng kino-convert sa subic, do you think meron pang tipong quality control na ginagawa?

yes, some buyers will have their vehicles inspected by their trusty mechanic, but most don't.

so there's a higher risk of mechanical failure on converted vehicles over original LHD vehicles. then pa-drive mo pa sa isang siraulong driver, tsk tsk tsk.

question lang, can you buy an imported unit from subi na hindi pa na convet, tapos ikaw na lang maghanap ng shop that will do the conversion?

kung pwede ito, i might think of doing this with a 3 door pajero tapos dito ko na ipaconvert sa mitsubishi shop na kaibigan ko.

no can do, kc b4 the car leaves subic o clark, it has to be converted already so yung kilala mong magcoconvert has to be in side subic o lakas connection. remember last year going to zambales, i had dark tint at that time, the police n guards kept stopping n checking my car as i was entering n leaving subic to make sure my car was left hand drive.

IMO, nasa buyer din. kung patitignan mo yun unit mo sa reputable shops dito sa manila ex. servitek, etc safe naman yan. the problem is yun iba pagbili ng unit hataw agad sa highway. tapos pag SUVs rough road agad. mura mo siya mabibili pero if you want to be safe go the extra mile, and pesos, to have it check and improve the conversion.

Here is the steering assembly of the Trooper/Big Horn:

Pang LHD drive na ito. I am providing this data for those considering to buy Subic units. Basically same ito for most SUV's. Recirculating ball ang gear box. You can imagine how they transfer/exchange the gear box (dapat naka bolt ito sa chassis with the original bolts or buy high tensile bolts) & the lever assbly, POS.39 (which is normally what's welded/bolted to the chassis). These are the 2 things that you have to carefully check and to re-check from time to time. The pitman arm is transferred from the right to the left dahil ito yung naka-kabit sa steering gear box. POS.124, lever is then transferred to the other side. Sa Big Horn most of the time original na gear box from Isuzu ang ginagamit. How do you check? May plate sa gear box and it is made by Jidosha Kiki Co.Ltd. Type 441-00107. You can have this overhauled. Si Ferdie gumawa nung akin. Yung repair kit is ca. 1.8K sa Isuzu. Available din ito sa U.S for ca. USD 80-100.

Converted vehicles are here to stay. If we can share something to the auto community so that we can make them safer then why not. I think there is not much benefit making subjective comments on these cars being safe or unsafe. Let us share information so that we can make the streets of Metro Manila (also the provinces) safer. Tayo panalo dito!
