Ano ba sa tingin ninyo ang mas matibay na mags specially when you go offroading -- yung alloy o yung steel mags? Hindi ba prone to cracks ang alloy and the steel mags naman madaling ma deform?

    Thanks po.

Steel is generally better for off-roading. It is tougher and is repairable unlike alloy wheels. A steel wheel can withstand welding (even on the field) and hammering to get it back in shape.

Alloy wheels are generally lighter and perform better on-road.

It all boils down how you will use it on your rig. You have to weigh some options though; steel rims will be heavier and will consume more gas but it is repairable during trails (which I doubt that will happen in our trails). While alloys are lighter and could provide more power to your tires, less strain on the engine. But prone to scratches and cracks if dealt carelessly.

kung may alloy wheels ka na with AT/HT tires
why not consider buying steel with MT tires
    parang rubber shoes for playing.

not necessarily alloy is a softie compare to steel, matitibay na rin ang alloys ngayon (except philippine made ha) forge na sila.

eto story ko, from OEM alloy 15x7 mags, pinalitan ko ng American racing Tailgunner 15x8, ayos sa porma, agaw tingin, but reverted back to OEM alloys kasi i want go back to 15x7 kasi nung lumapad ang tires parang bumaba naman,
nung binalik ko sa alloys ramdam ko ang arangkada!!! nakuha ko 30 minutes (+/-) from ungas' house to my house eh

but just as olive suggested, bili ka na lang ng seperate steel rims (600-800 each) kung gusto mo mag muds

Madali rin ma kalawang ang steel. Thats my experience with my former American Racing Tailgunner. Thats why I shifted to alloy

Usually surface rust lang naman ang steel. A little sanding ang buffing tapos touch up paint, ok na siya.

Chrome steel ang gamit namin sa Land Cruiser. It had lots of rust when we got the unit. Stripsol ata ginamit ng detailing shop. Balik kintab. Wala pa ding rusting up to now.

I have to agree. Noticeable talaga ang weight difference ng steel and alloy as well as during acceleration

Ariel, I went to Auto options kanina. P22k ang AMS mags set of 4 just like mine. I saw the white wagonwheels too. P9.1k for the set of 4. I think I'll powdercoat my existing mags nalang.

used steel wheels before, went to the prawn farm every day the wheels did have a little rust outside, but one day it just wont hold air, discovered that the inside were eaten by rust had to throw it away. it was the Keystone brand. changed to alloys had no problems, one was repaired pa due to a collision.

badsekktor, last two years ago, konti lang ang size 16 for tires,
    pero ngayon madami na!

go for 16s na, then kung gusto mo "medyo nakalabas ang tires, just buy an inch wider mags,

been there, lagi lang ako naglilinis ng fender kasi nakalabas tires ko dati.

badsekktor::: Change to 16x8 alloy mags para di mahirapan gaano ang makina. Panigurado gusto mo rin ng malapad na goma para sa mags mo.

Di ko kabisado kung gaano "ka-konting labas" ang gusto mo, but an 8 inch width alloy fits in well. Or if you want "konting labas" ng gulong, try to view GlennSter's or lc80's ride which are 15x10.

medyo OT: d ba pwede marepair ang alloy? yun rim ko kasi sa front driver side may deep cut, parang tumama ata sa yero or something na matalas. saan pwede iparepair? and mga how much?d ata kaya ng buff lang eh. stock rim lang ng rav 4x2...

tnx po sir ungas.. tonka po yun ride... hmm... cguro an inch wider sa fender eh ok na... trip ko sana yun 17 na chrome kaya lang baka maapektuhan na masyado yun ride.. medyo bumpy na kasi pag manipis ang goma as what i have experienced... mahilig pa naman ako sa lubak kahit papano... hehehe.... kaya i decided na 16 na lang....

yun alloy rims... im not sure kung ok i-repair yan pero i've seen before na na-repair... yun damage nya is na-chip off yun mismong bakal. i think 17 or 18 inch na mags yun, nakasagasa yata ng bato.. manual yun nakito ko pagrerepair... as in acetyline plus tinutunaw nila yun alloy then ni-rereshape na lang...
