September 24th, 2007 11:23 PM #53Someone told me it was the european stint daw that killed Sarao. They had orders of so many units from a european client (He says he thinks it was Germany, but now that you've mentioned it, it could be France). The first units were good, but Sarao had to rush the other units (kasi marami nga, nasa hundreds yung order). Quality control went down with the rushed units and many of them were shipped back to the Philippines for repair. It was the repair and shipment of these units which made Sarao bankrupt daw.

September 24th, 2007 11:29 PM #54Actually there is a standard. Marcos came up with some sort of a standardization before. Also, the LTO has minimum standards to meet before it can be regarded roadworthy and can be registered...at least ideally.
Yung pagiging kanya-kanyang bira makes some variety which is a trademark of the jeepneyI think the problem is in the maintenance. Our jeepney drivers hardly make enough to eat, and don't know how to save/invest money pa, kaya we can't expect them to give good maintenance on their jeepneys. Nor can they afford expensive repairs to make their jeepneys really really nice looking.
Also, another problem is lack of organization. I recall reading an article where jeepney manufacturers laments not even having their own organization. We can't standardized if there is no national body representing jeepney manufacturers.

The lack of quality in their products could be the reason why the local manufacturers of utility vehicles went belly up. Enthusiasm and patriotism is not enough. The makers of the Phuv should learn from this and make sure that it is built to high standards. Do a lot of testing in the lab and on/off the roads before launching the product. If they don't, the Phuv might suffer the same fate as the other local AUVs.

September 25th, 2007 11:08 AM #58Well, I guess this means the PhuV will go up in smoke since they chose a chinese engine as powerplant
I also saw this body called the "Neovan". its a high-side pickup with roof mounted on an L300 cab or Hyudai Porter. Maganda sana yung design kaso lahat ng nakikita kong ganun, sobrang kalawang, tanggal ng ang bumber, etc. Yung neighbor ng friend ko has one, they told me wala pang 1 year old siya, they had to repaint and body repair it na
