A modern OTJ should be fuel efficient, comfortable and at least look like the Suzuki Jimny.

    Hi akisidom,

I prefer the classic one, because we own that same one before, im planning to assemble it again since my brother took it apart, the good thing about the classic one is you can seat comfortably because the passengers is in the correct seating position not like the modern one leg and seating postion is crampped. i remember on the 90's they add some fiberglass hardtop and doors on the classic one. and to top it all they add a aircondition on it, so passengers will not struggle the hot & humid temperature on the road. that's why im inquiring to jewels navotas the cost for the said project.

    cheers!

    suspension:

leaf springs are OK. they(assemblers) just need to know how to integrate it with the design correctly. the correct spring rate and energy damping can make the ride better.

if you have seen the first part of the indiana jones 4 movie, where teenagers are in a ford t-bucket, you will see how this leaf-springed car managed to drive on the unpaved shoulder at hi-speed without throwing the passengers overboard.

but people who buy OTJ dont want it fr that purpose. they want to be able to put more load, so assemblers use stiffer springs.

to meet the soft ride and the load requirement, at the rear, air bags should be installed to help stiffen the spring rate when required.

at the front, transverse leaf springs will work better as it will give a softer ride, enough space for the wheel to make tighter turns. coill springs would be more costly to maintain for people with OTJ's

    engine:
hi power engines will be cool. but.....people who need this car dont need extra power. they just need power to be able to drive a fully loaded OTJ at around 70kph on the highway. An electronic ignition, turbo 4k is good enough.

    body:
    material:
reason why people want stainless is because it looks good with less maintenance effort - makintab na di pa agad kakalawangin. di na papipinturahan. but stainless is heavy - this would affect fuel efficiency, braking, tires. it should have the less-maintenance characteristic, but lighter.
kaya galvanized. zinc-coated para di kalawangin at mas-magaan. di na rin pipinturahan. pwede na.

PLASTIC or fiberglass na lang dapat.
    styling:

    to be continued......

Most newer assembled OTJs are using 12 valve toyota
engines plus coil spring. They are also "equipped" with discarded dashboard of old kia prides.

    Lowered mostly and less burloloy.

maybe the suspension is the leaf spring or molye bayun i'm not so sure, 4K engine with 5 speed make me satisfied in terms of fuel efficiency, my purpose for buying that kind of such machine is to use for may daily trip.

tama yan. pero kung wala nang laman, naku!, antigas talaga niyan. kaya maganda kung adjustable yung spring rate. mga truck sa america naka-air bags.

I think from the latest posts, we can conclude that people who would want to have an OTJ does not want ultra modern, ultra expensive systems in it. kaya ang OTJ natin di nagbabago ang mg parts, style lang ang nag-iiba.
