Yah, yun din balita ko. I kinda heard that they are giving away 100-150k discount sa 307's nila.

So like mga 850-950k nalang yung 307. Not bad na ren for a Euro hatch.

yup. Feeling ko over priced yang 407 na yan though ok naman yung review sa europe ng 407. I also have a feeling na they will bring in the facelifted 307 and the 307cc here too. Madami dami na nga ang peugeot sa daan. halos araw araw ako nakakakita.

    the 407:

    the 407:
Problem is they sell cars we don't need like the very overpriced cc models.
My guess is, even a 2.0 liter 407 would probably reach P1.8M-P2M!

Peugeot should sell the lower priced 307 sedan if they want to survive, if not they will just end up like Autostadt Phils. with their overpriced super slow selling VW products.

Not much of a 3-series rival... Lets see if it can even beat the S60...
infact the 407 is more of an Opel Vectra rival...

Peugeots are more of a Honda-Toyota rival than a Volvo rival. Much like Opel is.

They do have nice supple suspensions compared to most Japanese makes, without sacrificing handling, but not much else to push them above the Japanese in terms of gotta-have-it-ness. Except, I guess, for their rarity here.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Ang mayari ng AutoFrance Philippines ay ang Lee family(Commercial,Universal Motors at HARI-Hyundai) pero hindi sila ang mayari ng Mantrade-Nissan(sina Lopa-Ayala ang mayari nun).Sabi nila noon eh dadalhin nila dito yung new 307 nung November pero na cancel yata, alam naman natin kung gaano hindi kagaling sa marketing ng cars ang Lee family(high prices of thier cars,so-so and outdated lineup,etc....) kaya maghintay nalang tayo sa ilalabas ng AutoFrance Phil Peugeot here sa Philippines,i think umaasa nalang sila sa sales ng 206CC(ilalabas ang 207 here soon kasabay ng 407 daw?).AG4 wag ka nang umasa sa Chinese at Iranian maed Peugeots dahil may defects ang build quality nyan.

Just my analysis...I think local Peugeot can afford a 10-20% premium over similar speced Japanese models if they can successfully market their brand image more and make the average Pinoy think that Peugeot == French == European == cool.

Since Peugeot is a niche car brand and probably will never go anywhere near Japanese car sales, they have to do business differently. Meaning, they might want to bring in unique models even in small quantities (1007, 206RC, 307CC, 407SW ) & features such as diesels, manual transmission, cool but not essential options such as sunroof, HID, etc.

Since all their cars are imported and probably will never be as price competitive as the Japanese, might as well stay away from base models and concentrate on mid to high-speced models instead.

What do you think guys? What strategies do you think might work for Peugeot here? I'd feel sad if Peugeot here fades away. The more car brand/choices we have, the merrier. I hope to see other brands come here like Renault, VW, Subaru, Lexus, etc

    Like the Ford Focus?
Peugeots are just too expensive here.

The Philippine market is too small for niche econo-car manufacturers. This has burned VW and it's hurting Peugeot now. Suzuki has managed to stay afloat because of its 4x4s and trucks, but it's still not getting market share.

Makes like Peugeot, Citroen, VW, Opel and Renault can't really compete here on the entry-level market. While it's true that the ride and suspension of most Europeans is better, and that their high speed stability is much better, that's it. Japanese cars have better reliability and better engines (as a whole).

Peugeot could carve a bigger space for itself by bringing in the 1007 as a premium subcompact. They could possibly sell a few dozen of these every month. The 307 and the 407 may sell on looks, but there's not much there to make you pay as much as for a more powerful Accord or Focus (much better than the 307, it is).

I don't like the 206cc. It's cramped as hell! If I want driving excitement and an open top in that price range, I'd get a Smart Roadster (which, unfortunately, is dead)... or a quicker, roomier, and air-ier Japanese sedan with a moonroof.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

when it comes to acquiring an euro car, pinoys typically have Merc and BM in mind..BMW's 316i or 116i will more often than not end up in aspiring euro car owners' garage first..few will even consider a peugeot

I'm thinking Volvo seems to be doing ok so brands like Peugeot or VW might have a chance here if only they put more effort in promoting and selling their cars.
