July 20th, 2006 01:55 PM #1Mga tols, i am kinda worry lang kc i decided na ang ikabit na timing belt sa 16V Toyota Corolla 93 ko ay yung replacement lang. Sabi nung mekanik ay Germany daw yung napakabit worth around P600 to P800+ yata.

IMO tatagal yan.
From time to time do a visual inspection of your timing belt, dali lang naman tanggalin ang cover nyan, look for signs of hairline cracks, tastas sa gilid ng belt and also check mo din yung ngipin ng belt kung may abnormal wear or kung may missing teeth.
don't worry too much

tsaka ang importante is tama ang pagkakakabit, and the tensioner bearings are not to tight, which affect the ability of the belt to function properly. yan ang nakakasira ng premature....
but as artpogi suggested, everytime you go up for an oil change, do a visual check na rin of not just the timing belts, but the other belts as well like the alternator and aircon belts.... dapat naman talaga ganun ang ginagawa eh.

July 20th, 2006 02:18 PM #5Mga chong...salamat sa quick advise...cguro naman nga d ako dapat mag worry kc dami naman nya pinalitan eh like yung tensioner bearing ba yon..at kung ano ano...hayy..oo nga tama kayo..ipapacheck ko na lang ito from time to time...sa palagay nyo anong frequency? every year ba? or every anong KM? at sa pagpapalit ko ulit nitong T.B. after ilang KM travelled? 50 ba or 80? or below 50? kc two years na to sa kin 10KM palang natatakbo ko kc everyday ave run ko lang eh 12KM...

Normally they would suggest every 100K mag palit ng T.B. but personally I always replace my TB on 80K mark.
And tama yung sabi ni Happy_G! kailangan tama ang kabit ng T.B. because if your T.B is not installed properly or with the wrong tension, you're prone to skipping timing belt, which can be nasty (read expensive) kapag nangyari.

as i've mentioned earlier and what the others mentioned too, do a check every oil change. habang nakaangat yung oto mo. so that means every 5000 kms. and as i've mentioned earlier, check other belts as well, including the belt on your pants.... hehehehe.
