Just as the title says who works on your car when it needs to be fixed or just regular maintenance?

Do you change the oil and do minor maintenance?

Do you take it to a mechanic for all maintenance work?

Do you do all maintenance major or minor?

Do you drive it until the engine explodes?

Just curious if members work on the mechanicals of their cars and know how it works. On my part I do the minor(oil, brakes, etc) stuff as long as I have the tools on my Lancer. I let the casa work on the Xterra because of the computers on it, i.e. it has no throttle cable because it's drive by wire and I don't want to screw up the warranty.

I used to work on my cars: oil change, brake pads, spark plugs, carburator, engine cleaning, etc.

Then I bought a Plymouth Laser RS Turbo in 1991. One look at the engine compartment (with wires and cables everywhere) and I made up my mind never to work on my cars again. I haven't worked on a car since my 1986 Nissan Pulsar NX.

the first time i owned a car, decades ago, i let the mechanic do all maintenance work but as i came to learn more as years passed, i do more maintenance work as i possibly can.. the latest of which was to change disc pads, engine oil seal, gaskets, timing belt & other minor regular maintenance work.. for the heavier jobs i go to my neighborhood mechanic

for the sparks, oils, filters...DIY lahat! with the exception of course ng mga vehicles in warranty.

Nung carbs days, oks lang lahat pati overhaul. Kaya lang with all the electronics involved ngayon sa mga latest model, mahirap pakialaman. Not to mention, don't wanna ruin the warranty.

Oil changes and major/minor repairs kay Raymond Sarol. Aircon kay Danknee.

Suspension pwede na sa officemate ko. Kumpleto kasi sa gamit. Na-DIY ko na tranny support at brake pads. Supervisor lang sya just in case may mali akong ginawa hehe.

Wow and all I get is $5 off oil change and a complimentary car wash from San Leandro Nissan. BTW funny how the oil filter for my 1.5L Mitsu is the same as my 4.0L V6 Nissan.

Ray is a freelance mechanic who, if I'm not mistaken, used to work for Diamond Motors Santolan, looooooong time ago.

He's a favorite go-to guy among the local mitsu car clubs when it comes to repairs. Hindi lang mitsu, kahit anong kotse.

He's a very competent and trustworthy mechanic.
