    Hello,

Been reading comments about undercoating. Parang most of the comments suggest that newer cars hindin nmn need masyado ng undercoating since treated na yung mga metal. Question gaano katagal na pwedeng ganon yung sasakyan, at kelangan bang kinakawalang naba yung ilalim bago lagyan?

Another question is, if newer car cars dont need much of an undercoating, pano lilinisin or i-iliminate yung parang mga natuyong grease, mud dun sa coil spring, sa mga axle, etc. Yung saken napansin ko may mga dots or patches ng parang kawalang. Pano linisin yon. Mas okay ba kung paint tlg gagamitin kung medyo bago pa sasakyan?

rustproofing is a lot better now than 35 years ago.
my car is 13 years old, and it still hasn't got a spot of rust anywhere in its body.

the better rustproofing is perhaps done in the factory, during assembly.
    the metal may be electroplated.
    the paint is specialized.

ex-factory rustproofing might help, but it is far inferior to that in the factory.

undercoating is simply, an additional layer of thick paint under the car. its usefulness is argueable. google it, sir, for pros and cons.

how to clean the underside? a strong stream of water or steam, etc like manual manipulation.

small dots of rust on the heavy metal suspension parts underneath, is something i would not worry over. either it will need replacement thru wear and tear, long before rust becomes an issue, or retired na ako, ok pa yung piyesa...

the secret in fighting rust, is to have the offending spot cleaned of rust and re-painted asap.

If the primer gets scraped off, yes.

Hello Sir, just a follow up here.

undercoating is usually done on the car's sheet metal and "chassis".
suspension parts, steering and brake parts are usually not undercoated. napaka-kapal ng metal na yan. even if it started rusting, the metal is so thick, it won't weaken the part significantly during the entire lifespan of the part (or the car!).
personally, i'd get slightly worried if the axle rust shows pitting already. in which case, i'd just clean it with wire brush, turco it, then hand-paint with whatever fancy color strikes my fancy. but black is my default color. heh heh. it's DIY-easy, sir. and the part is built to take punishment. you can't harm it, even if you wanted to.

i know of some folks who will have their car's underparts painted, but these are more for aesthetic purposes, and not for longevity.

one notices, today's cars are so well-made and factory rust-proofed, hardly any rust, even after a decade on the road.
just looking around on the road, rust-free 20-year-old cars are common. corolla XE.. XL.. gli... sentra EX.. SS..

    good read Sir, salamat.

So I can sleep well then :-). I suppose my lifter kayo since madali sa inyo mag DIY. Maybe i'll buy at least the jack stand so I paint it myself as well. I really wanted it to reain it's sleak black color lang like nung bago. Since taga province ako, talagang napapasabak sa bato at putik yung ilalim tuwing uuwi ako. So it all started to rust from there siguro. Thank you sa advise Sir.

Today's cars are pretty well-protected against corrosion. Some underbody & suspension parts may be exposed. If you feel you must, get this product & just spray away....

FLUID FILM | Powerful Corrosion Protection & Lubrication

    Don't do the messy bitumen.
