    kailan dapat mag pa "advance" ng timing? mag pa "retard" ng timing? at ano ang mga effects nito - in terms of engine health and fuel consumption. TIA.

    stick to the specs. when you advance your timing you're telling the plugs to detonate before the piston reaches top dead center. retarding it would be the opposite. in todays hi-tech engines it is advisable to stick to the manufacturers specs to maximize gas consumption and performance.

    Ung ride ko po is xl corolla 92. Kaya ko nagtanong about timing kasi sabi ng mekaniko naka advance daw ang timing ko so inadjust niya. Na feel ko sa ride ko ngayon lumakas ang hatak. worried lang ako sa ginawang adjustment baka kasi di maganda sa makina ko. Ano po kaya ang tama para sa ride ko? Thanks for the reply.

    5 deg BTDC would be just fine.

    yup, 5 deg yung tama. if di ka naman rezing rezing then stick with that nalang.

    5 degree Before Top Dead Center. It means your plug will fire 5 degrees earlier before your piston reaches its maximum travel in the chamber.

    kapag walang timing light, pakikiramdaman lang ng mekaniko yung idling habang ginagalaw ang distributor ... when the idling becomes smooth (minimum engine vibration), it is usually the correct timing ... but this is true only for the old style contact-point ignition system

    mga sir, nagkakamali rin ba ang timing light??? kasi yong oto ko pinatiming ko sa isang servitech so ginamitan ng timing light at ang sabi nakatiming na. kaso di nagbago yong performace malambot parin di makahatak. so pinatiming ko uli sa isang service center. ang ginawa ng mechanics manual timing, basta ginalaw lang ang distributor. ayon gumanda ang performance. at pinacheck ko uli gamit timing light, sabi nakasagad na ang timing niya... ano ibig sabihin kong nakasagad na???? kaso paguwi ko sa bahay may amoy na gas na di ko alam kong san nanggaling di naman siya dating ganon. may connection kaya sa pagpapatiming ko???

    yep hindi lng sa timing gumanda yun performance at pati din sa distrubutor timing..

    distributor timing is the timing of the car. malamang it was advanced a bit which is allright as long as you have no knocking.

    Hi guys,

    Can somebody help me too regarding the timing.
    bale nag pa timing na ako kc parang may ubo yung mufler ko, kso nung pag katapos mag pa timing, umayos ng konti, but bumalik ulit, i mean pag mabagal na yung rpm ko sa second gear umuubo nanaman sya, di ko alam kung mataas pa sya or dapat bang babaan ko pa yung timing nya?
    Kc nung una sabi sakin msyado daw mababa yung timing nya, after na tinaas sya, naging ok, pero binalik ko ulit dun at i think binabaan ulit nila and now i'm having this problem pag naka second gear sya. may konting ubo parin but di na masyado, yung nga nan dun parin pag mababa yung rpm nya sa second gear. do u think na kailang sya babaan pa ulit?

    carbureted ba ride mo?

    sa akin kasi nun hindi yung timing ang problema. yung choke setting maluwag kaya pag nasa higer gears ako parang umuubo yung muffler ko. kaya ang ginawa ko is to idle my engine, turned on the A/C at pinakinggan ko ng husto yung muffler. then i slowly tightened the choke screw. when i noticed na naging mas buo yung tunog na lumalabas, i stopped there. then nung ginamit ko na yung kotse wala na yung ubo sa higher gears. biniro pa ako ng mekaniko ko. tinanong kung saan ko natutunan yung ginawa ko. sabi ko nag-search ako sa internet hehehehe. HTH

    baka sira/singaw advancer ninyo. as your RPM goes up nag aadvance ang timing ninyo . timing can be adjusted using the "crude" way, a bulb connected to your distributor (-) and battery (+) while hand (wrench) turning the engine. pero wala ng gumagamit nito...hehehe.
