    Probable cause:
    1. Stale gas (left over long period, such as 3 days)
    2. Drained batt (some electrical component eating up reserve capacity)

    Tip:
    Use your car more often.

Questions would likely to pop up:
    1. When was the last time your carburetor cleaned?
    2. Did you add oil treatment to your engine?
    3. When was the last time you have your engine tuned-up?
    4. Did you step on gas full to the floor and released it prior starting?
    5. Does your car undergo PMS (periodic maintenance service)?
    6. How often/seldom do you change oil?

    Here's my advice:

    1. Have your carburetor checked again by any carburetor specialist. I know one at Kamuning, the name is "AM Carburetor Specialist". You need not go to casa because they charge a lot.
    2. Never add oil treatment to your engine. Oil viscocity of 20W-50 is just enough to keep your engine running. Adding oil treatment will make your engine become stale after long periods of immobilization.
    3. Change your spark plugs with a Denso and check the gap before installing. Standard gap should be 0.8mm. Refer to your manual. Carburetor specialists does tune-up services also.
    4. Before starting, esp early in the morning before you roll, step on the gas just once thence release it before turning on the ignition. Dry run for about 3 mins. Turn the engine off, then start it again this time without pressing the gas. Should start responsively.
    5. No comment on your PMS.
    6. You can use non-fully synthetic oils. Fully synthetic oils are applicable to current gas engines like VVT-I and very expensive. Just regularly check your oil and replace immediately when it becomes unclear or murky.

I had a '93 Corolla XE (sold it already last May) and pareho yata ating 1.3li. 2E carb. engine. Used it for 12 years and had that same problem which started around 4 years ago. Culrpit : the automatic choke built into the carb is already non-functioning.

Simple lang, pump the gas pedal 4 to 5 times before you turn on the ignition in the morning to prime the fuel delivery system (after 3 days non-use, there's no fuel in your fuel lines going into the carb). Don't worry, doing this will not flood your carb. Then turn on the ignition.

Also, you might want to increase the idle speed to 900 rpm.- there's a spring-loaded thumbscrew behind the carb. then balik mo na lang to 700 rpm by mid-day.

Also check your carb if there's red gum accumulated sa throttle plate (some call this butterfly valve). Spray carb cleaner to dissolve this gum. The throttle plate should move freely without a snag. Accumulated gum limits your plates ability to open up to take in more air.

    just my 2-cents. HTH
