hello pips! m just a newbie here and i have this dilemma..

last feb 9, i acquired a 2nd hand 1997 lancer 1.3 el at 180k. makinis ung car, may konting scratch lng sa front bumper and the milleage is only 71K. all the while i thought it was a good buy. but yesterday, nililinis ko ung dashboard and i saw a logbook. nakalagay sa logbook ung mga daily trips sa different banks in metro manila and here is the sample entry:

    march 2, 2003
    8:15 am - 71,222 bank a libis
    9:30 am - 71,280 bank b alabang

and the list went up to january 2005 and ang milleage na nakalog don is more than 190K na.

i really cant help but think na ung logbook na yon is don sa car na nabili ko. kung jan 05 nasa 190k na ung milleage, wat more ngayong feb 06?

so guys, namomodify ba ung milleage? digital sya... m really bothered

Na-reset ang odo to 69k. Baka ganun din nangyari sa yo.

thank you guys for the replies...

namomodify pala sya... deep sigh! so given na nasa 200K na ung milleage then nabili ko ung car at 180,000. ok nmn kasi ung paint, my konti lng scratch sa unahan. ok din ung interior nya. i must admit i bought that car in haste. nalove at first sight kasi ako eh..

at 180K, worthy ba sya? or iiyak na lang talaga ako?

probably... but the previous owner claimed na 71k lng tlg ung milleage and the ad said so. it was posted sa sunday issue ng manila bulletin... actually last sunday ko sya nbasa and on that same day pinuntahan ko ung house ng owner. since ok nmn sya kausap and gusto ko ung car, nagdown na ko. and last thursday, i paid him in full..

kung talagang 200k+ kms na yan, dapat lower ang price, siguro 120-140k. pero since ok naman interior and exterior ok na siguro yan..

hindi ko alam na odometers can be reset. i am driving since my highschool days believing that low mileage reading is a big factor in buying used cars. good thing i read this thread...are there any more ways of resetting analog odometers? kapag pinalitan ng dash malamang na-reset na yun anu?

yup agree with all the above.
better have your car checked asap. baka mas malaki gastos mo in the long run pag nasiraan ka

180K? That's quite expensive for a non-Honda or Toyota 1.3 car over 9 years old, and given the suspected 2x true mileage, sorry to say, but I guess you were ripped off somehow.

Our 96 Civic now has about 165K, which is used almost everyday. If your EL already did 190K, well, that has been flogged greatly, almost like a taxi.

Anyway, you ought to negotiate with the seller about this, like reimburse some of the money you paid. I guess he won't refund you completely, but it's worth a try.

    pwede, digital man o mechanical.

pero ask HOW-to on other forums, and they'll flame you to no end, lalo na kung forums abroad, even if you're not selling the car.

...check mo nga uli yung logbook, baka naman perang dala nilo-log niya di mileage.
