have you checked your a/t fluid lately? baka kulang na. most probably drain and replace your a/t fluid.
AT fluid yun. The heat probably comes from ATF heating up in traffic.
It's easy to check your fluid level... the dipstick is low and on the left side of the engine bay. Also check for impurities and contaminants.

Tingin ko din lack of ATF or expired na ATF mo...
Or pwede din barado ang oil cooler mo?
That's relatively easy to check... the ATF cooler on the Sentra is built into the radiator. At least for my Sentra (B14, 2000 model)... I'm not sure if the ECCS was the same, but since the engine is the same, it's possible.

The cooler is part of the radiator. When you go to a radiator repair shop, you can have them look at it, too.
At the age of the car, a new radiator isn't such a bad idea, as the newer Nissan radiators have two rows (better cooling) but you have to specify that it's for an automatic.
But first things first, check your ATF level.![]()

Do you, by any chance, put the shifter into N when in stop and go traffic? Some people have this habit, and it's not good for the transmission.
As per above, have the fluid checked first. If it's OK, have the cooler lines checked. The cooler lines run to the radiator as others said, it's part of the cooling system.
Why would it be a bad habit moving it to N when stopped? Doing so will allow better cooling of the ATF than leaving it in D when you're not moving.
i shift from D to N when im in a stop and go traffic... lakas ng vibration ng car pag naka D tapos hand break lang...like what seminarista is expiriencing with his car.bakit kaya ganun?
Time to replace engine supports hehe. Puro replacements na kasi gamit ko kaya ganun.
