Signs of wrong atf?

Mga Ser ano ba sign na wrong ang atf na ginamit? May magbabago ba sa takbo? What about sa physical appearance how will you know if its the wrong one? And normal ba pag nag check ng atf while engine running may bubbles sa dipstick but engine off wala namn bubbles. Thanks!

depende if automatic trans it needs engine running while checking the fluid but in manual trans theres no need the engine to run,at sabi mo may bubbles ang dipstick,it sounds like the fluid is contaminated with water.

95 Galant Sir. 1 week palang ako nagpa change ng atf so no water contamination. I used dextron3 rating na atf yung redline high temp. Based kasi sa car manual for 7g from 1 link sa internet use Diamond SPII or equivalent. Ano equivalent nito? Safe na ba ko sa dextron 3? Thanks again!

if its not contaminated then youre using the wrong type of fluid,,it will foam excessively and leave through the vent,kaya better change the fluid right away,.

Another sign is that medyo rough ang shifting. Yung 7g Galant kasi prone sa transimission breakage yan eh.

Sa mga U.S. Monteros (which shared the engine and transmission with the Galant), nagkakanda-leche-leche yung transmission if you did not use Diamond ATF. At least that's what I read from their forums sa 4x4wire. Madami din kasi nagka-problem. Only difference is, DIY lang sa kanila ang pag-overhaul ng transmission unlike sa atin na sa shop pa ginagawa at malaking $$$ ang gastos.

primary cause of bubbling atf is caused by:

1. overfilling
2. contamination

So it means di ko pwedi gamitin or di advisable Dextron III sa Galant? Yung nilagay before ng Casa is Caltex Alisson C4 rating naman. Tapos meron silang Mitsubishi atf di daw pwedi gamitin sa oto ko dahil pang new cars lang those triptonic ones. I'm really confused..Please enlighten me po..

in our shop we use dexron II and up (Dexron III, Mercon, Mercon V) for Galants. Always remember that if you're car is mandated to use Dexron II, you can only use Dexron II or higher types of ATF.

To give you an example, 1-lowest 5-highest

1. Allison c4
2. ATF - HDP
3. Dexron II
4. Dexron III
5. Mercon
6. Mercon V

If your car's OEM ATF is Alisson (or Diamond for that matter) you can only use Allison or higher. If your car is rated Dexron III, you can only use DexIII, Mercon & Mercon V.

Caltex have stopped refining Alisson C4 last year.

Can you tell me what happened to your car? Your details are a bit fuzzy. Why did you undergo ATF replacement? What are you experiencing now? Shift Shock? Shift Lag?

sir, papano kungf dexron 1 yung specified sa dipstick ko?wala nanamang nagbebenta ng dexron 1? or compatible sya with dexron 3?

im using dexron 3 now. ok naman po yung takbo, may timeas lang na nag to "tok" whn shifting

*torque2006-thanks Sir for that info. Actually twice a year ako magpalit ng atf and this time I want to try synthetic para better shifting and protected yung tranny. Concern ko lang Sir is kung tama yung ginamit kong atf na redline high temp with dextron III rating. And kung walang masisira sa tranny? What is shift lag? Yung shift shock nabawasan. May bubbles nga konti pag check ko baka nga over filling tulad ng sabi mo, lagpas sa hot region ng about 1 cm. Or di kaya yung bubbles ay nag form dahil nag mix yung old non syn sa full syn? dextronIII is backwards compatible naman with both I and II
