whats the best oil grade for a 97 318i e36 bmw? i use mobil 1 but i can't remember wat grade i used?

Use a multigrade gasoline motor oil with an API rating of SL. Synthetics are preferable over mineral oils. Mobil 1 is a very good synthetic gasoline motor oil. ;)

yes, definitely use a high grade synthetic. BMW recommends castrol synthetic or mobil 1.
i use 5w30 in florida, which is a similar climate as the philippines, in a 2001 e46.

May 21st, 2007 06:42 PM #4Ask ko lang ano motor oil available locally ang BMW Long Life 01 approved? Ito kasi ang recommended sa manual. Alam ko Shell Helix Ultra (new bottle) 5w40 yata and Motul BMW specific oil. Ano pa meron?

May 23rd, 2007 08:47 PM #7I just recently switched to using the Motul BMW specific synthetic oil which is 5W-30. My engine is running more smoothly now and i must recommend this
