Question: bakit po nailaw ung OIL pressure indicator lamp ko?

eto po kasi ung case ko, when my car is idling the oil pressure light is on (di naman ganoon ka-strong ung pag-ilaw nya, medyo dim lang.) then pag-ini rev ko na sya or pinatakbo, nawawala na...ok naman ung oil level ko,

ano kaya ang posibble cause, hope you can help me guys..sabi ng friend ko ung oil sending unit daw un, tama ba sya? saka ano ba yung oil sending unit?

Check first the oil level by pulling out the dipstick. The oil pressure sending unit is located at the engine block just below the intake manifold. If its body is wet and leaking with oil, better to replace it.

it could be the sending unit, its a piece of sensor with wire connected to it.

or it could be the oil pump itself is the problem.

You should checked it immediately by a mechanic. They are right there are only two possible cause of this problem. Mabuti kung the problem is the oil sending unit aka oil pressure switch lang, annoying lights lang problem but if it is really an oil pump discharge tlaga then the consequence could be big, as it would seize up your engine.


(Sample procedures below for a Honda engine) ** halos same lang except for wires colors and pressure ratings.

Oil Pressure Switch Test
Remove the YEL/RED wire (A) from the engine oil pressure switch (B).
Check for continuity between the positive terminal (C) and the engine (ground). There should be continuity with the engine stopped. There should be no continuity with the engine running.

If the switch fails to operate, check the engine oil level. If the engine oil level is OK, check the engine oil pressure. If the oil pressure is OK, replace the oil pressure switch.

If the oil pressure warning light stays on with the engine running, check the engine oil level. If the oil level is correct:


Remove the engine oil pressure switch, and install an the special tools. (basically a hose with a pressure gauge)


Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.

Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (fan comes on at least twice). The pressure should be:

Engine Oil Temperature: 80°C (176°F)

Engine Oil Pressure:

At Idle: 70 kPa (0.7 kgf/cm2, 10 psi)

minimum

At 3,000 rpm 340 kPa (3.5 kgf/cm2, 50 psi)

(min-1): minimum

If the oil pressure is NOT within specifications, inspect these items.

Check the oil screen for clogging.
Check the oil pump

hmm.well nagnyayari lang naman na umiilaw ung oil pressure indicator ko when the engine is already in hot temperature (siguro mga 1 hour na takbuhan saka na sya nag-iilaw ilaw ng konti) actually pag naka kambyo ako sa-drive un(basta pag ung mga times mabababa ang menor),....when i switch it into PARK or NEUTRAL..nawawala na ung ilaw nya...auto tranny kasi ung akin e..

opo bagong change oil po , saka ang gamit kong langis is ordinary lang ung product ng PETRON ung High Detergercy motor OIL, ang hinala ko nga po baka dun ata sa langis un e kasi pag-uminit na saka lang nagiindicate ung OIL psi lamp e..,(lumalapot ata ung langis ko pag umiinit na sya e),..

balak ko pong palitan ung oil next month e, ano po ba ma-irerecommend nyung OIL??

Pero pag start na eh clear na lahat..

Ok lang po ba yun?

Try changing the oil. It might have lost its viscosity and is not thick enough to extinguish the light at idle

in the olden days, an oil warning light when the engine is running, means one of two things:
1. not enough oil in the sump; and
2. the engine is tired and will need a general overhaul soon. lalo na kung flickering.

another cause, although, in our experience, uncommon, is a mis-behaving oil sending unit.

this is normal, po.
ang hindi normal, ay kung may natirang naka-ilaw pag na-start na ang engine.
kadalasan, yung seatbelt light ito, o yung handbrake light. heh heh.

How old is the car? Old car and the lack of managed oil changes every 5000 km can result in worn engine bearings.... Worn bearings and hot engines only allow more oil to escape between the crankshaft rod ends and the crankshaft journals which will result in time an illumination of the engine oil light.

Yung akin 2001 isuzu crosswind xto parehong pareho kami ng case nung unang unang nag post. Pag naka idle umiilaw yung akin habang nakababad sa D pero pag neutral or paaandarin ko nawawala sya. Yung pag ilaw nya is dim lang na makurap. Ginawa ko pinalitan ko yung oil sending unit. Pero dahil di pa ko natrapik ng matagal simula ng pinaayos ko last month di ko pa nasubukan kung iilaw pa o hindi. Nagulat lang ako sa nabasa ko dito mismo sa thread na to na baka daw tired na yung engine natakot ako. Pero naibabyahe pa namin ng malayo at wala naman akong na eencounter na problema. Siguro iol sending lang. Minsan susubukan ko mag idle ng baka drive yung kambyo. Pero sa palagay ko ok na yung akin kasi minsan matagal na din ako naka hinto ng nakadrive di na man na umiilaw.
