To Overhaul or NOT To OverHaul, Banaue Vs Mechanic

I got a lite ace subic automatic transmission, 2c 4WD diesel ang engine, nag-shift-shift naman sya pero most of the time mag-oover-rev muna sya before mag-shift to the next gear.Bale gan2 sya,while driving and you step on the gas mag-shift ng gear, but pagdating sa 3rd gear, d2 sya mag-overrev tapos saka mag-shift. Dinala namin sya to a well known mechanic d2 sa forum.

Nung cnabi nming ung problem. He first suggest a transmission flush kc usually ganun daw talaga ung problem caused by a clogged transmission. Ni-dala namin nung weekend para i-flush ung transmission.

Ni-drive test muna nung mechanic before flushing it, tapos after drive testing, he concluded na, a rebuilding kit is necessary daw to fix this, di na daw sya kaya ng flushing. He quoted the cost of labor and parts, 27k ung price for 3 days na nandun sa shop ung van.

Mukhang overhaul ng transmission kelangan, so pumunta muna ako Banaue before i-decide.Nakita ko ung mga nakalatag na engine and transmission dun sa harap ng shop sa banaue.We ask the cost of labor and transmission, its 19k.

Sorry haba istorya ko, hehehe, the thing is, my mind is torn between reliability and cost. How reliable is ung banaue transmission.May experience na po ba kau sa automatic transmission overhaul 2c 4wd, help naman po, dyan. I hope this is detailed enough.Hehehe.

Dapat yung pinaka least expensive approach muna ang gawin mo before doin a swap/overhaul ng transmission.When was the last time na napalitan ang trans oil?Also check the governor, vacuum modulator or throttle cable.Bring it to a shop that specialize in AT transmission.

Pinacheck ko na po ung basics dun sa mechanic (trans oil,belts,filter, (xenxa na not familiar with the parts he mentioned) and sya na nagsabi na transmission overhaul na kelangan.actually he mentioned a "transmission rebuilding kit", when i heard that, i just hold my pockets and i think it sounds like an overhaul.tsk tsk tsk.aww.

so pinalitan na yung trans oil? and adjustment sa vacuum mod(if vacuum equipped)or throttle cable.

Mention ko na nga, sa Cruven ko po sya dinala. I am not familiar po talaga sa mechanic stuffs, but base on what i saw here in the forum, magaling ang Zee and Cruven sa AT stuffs. C Greg (Cruven, Makati) pala ung tumingin ng van ko. Layo kc ako San Juan kaya, dun na lang ako sa Cruven pumunta.

Cruven and Zee are suspension shops. They are not transmission specialists.

You can try autotechnika at the Fort or in Fairview. They have transtech ATF flushing machine.

Got answers from alwayz_yummy, actually matagal na syang nagreply, (bz lang talaga d2 sa workpalce ko, d ak mkapagpost, hehehe.). He recommended a shop ULTIMA in banawe. The options he suggested;

option 1:

go to ultima in banawe, from quezon ave, unang left turn, then right
side.. 7,500 ung a/t-4wd nila, prepare 8 liters of DEXRON SPEC atf, +/-
2000 pesos, then palabor mo sa kanila, 3-4thousan. 1 month warranty.
pero maiiuwi mo na ung sasakyan... sure ka pang walang tulo, just be sure
papalitan mo ng langis sa lan, linis ung filter inside, at ung atf sa
TC papalitan. nga pala, pag ikakabit pabalik, ung TC isasalpak sabay ng
a/t, not TC 1st before a/t...bad at mali yun.. then after 1-3 months
balik mo kay autotechnika/cruven for a full flush.

option2:

kung papa-overhaul mo, punta ka sa banawe, bili ka ng a/t, dalhin mo sa
talyer na nagooverhaul ng a/t, kakatayin a/t mo at a/t na binili mo,
ipapalit ang laman, then ikakabit ulit.

20-30 thousand w/o guarantee na maayos na ang takbo, at di tutulo ang
a/t mo.

I might go this weekend sa ULTIMA.

Question lang po. Nag-canvas ako kahapon sa Banawe and quote sa akin is 28K for surplus A/T (including labor). Ok na ba ang price na yon?

price is dependent ont he transmission you need and the type of vehicle.
