how do you keep older cars look and drive like new? lets say for older cars more or less 10+ years old. my ride is a civic SiR ek 99. orig paint, no racing, daily driver, 94k mileage. im working to keep it in prestine condition.

i always park in the shade. replaced timing belt, new starter, rear shocks (kyb), are among the major repairs ive done if i can remember. i dont use air fresheners since it spoils or makes my ac system dirty daw.

any more tips to make our older cars fresh? thanks!

    Look and drive like new?

Remove tint. Restore all stock parts... everything.

Tune tune tune the car para wala problema. Pero still keeping everything stock.

Restore all decals and stickers. Kung may sticker yun dealer na pinagbilhan, hingi ka...

    Check this one...

Our Sentra B13 still had a chance on having the OEM paint intact and all (it just needed detailing)... until a 3!%^$*%# EDSA bus hit it at the rear quarter panel.

I would agree to most of what renzo_d10 stated except for removing the tint ...

For new cars, I do the following to keep it sariwa over the years.

    - Keep it stock
    - Park at covered areas
    - Regular wash, vacuum and wax
    - Don't smoke and avoid eating in the car
    - Don't use strong air freshener (I made this mistake, more than 10 yrs after and my car still smells like California scents coronado cherry )
    - Don't overload (lakas makalaspag niyan )
    - Regular maintenance
    - Immediately fix scratches, dents, bangga etc (if you leave it that way and you get another scratch or dent etc tuloy tuloy na, they you'd think marami na naman tama)

Naku ganyan ako dati, OC sa scratches. Basta bawal ang gasgas.

black color sasakyan ko kaya mas maselan and takaw gasgas.

    napagod na ako.

Kaya yearly 3 step detailing na lang.

Regular maintenance and cleaning. Huwag masyadong mag expect na 'like new' kung daily driver. But if you maintain it well it will serve you well for many years. Maraming lumang kotse fully restored, sangkatutak ang nagastos. Tapos nakakapanghinayang gamitin. Or very low mileage at parang kalalabas lang ng showroom. Highly valued and sought after. But again sayang kung gagamitin araw-araw. I personally think cars are meant to be driven, not just admired like museum pieces. Kahit luma basta well maintained, very reliable.

Some comments on the said car:
    1. Walang chrome lining dapat sa bumper yung XL 5-Speed (thus, pang GL model yung bumper na nakakabit)
    2. Missing yung hose extension sa air intake.
    3. May fade yung markings sa fuse/relay box.

    Just nitpicking. LOL

thanks for the suggestions! this thread makes me miss my B13 that was one durable and nimble car.

i do agree with trying to make it look 100% stock, but probably semi-stock lang. it is my preference na mag semi-lowered look (1.5" drop).
the real difficulty i had through the years was looking for an original Enkei SiR set of rims. (bought it 2nd hand years ago, the owner didnt want to let go of these babies). right now, still could not find one

Im keeping the black tint for now, although tintless look is very nice, i need some security and privacy too... heheh ;)
im praying that my 14 year old compressor and other AC parts still work well...

planning to drain / replace the transmission and brake fluid by my next tune-up. Any tips to make the engine more sariwa? im nearing 100k mileage.. thanks

Totoo to. Ang linis ng kotse pag walang tint.

When I was in HK, I was wondering why the cars there looked so clean. It took some time to realize that it was because cars there rarely have tint. Yun nga lang, ang hirap nun dito. Sobrang init kasi. Kahit menyek tints on a white car hindi pa rin kasing linis tingnan ng no tint.

Makes me wonder if it's worth it having no tint for my next car.

    + 1

    and

Don't use it when its raining. Or have a "pang-harabas" na kotse.

I usually cover my cars with a cloth car cover even when they are inside the garage. Before removal of those covers, feather dust them so that settled dust will not contaminate the inner lining of the cover, as this will scratch your paint when you put the cover on again. Try to wash the covers once a month. Yes, no tints. Try to place moisture absorbent inside the cabin. I lift my cars once a month, take off the wheels and wash the underside with soapy water, foam and brush, yup I am literally crawling underneath just to do this. Clean car inside out, good feeling. Nothing beats you cleaning the car yourself, DIY.

Always wanted to restore a B13.

They look so much better stock than an AE92.

Too bad restoring a not-so old car from ground up will cost you more than a hundred grand.

Makes me remember the members of Stanceworks.

Very hands-on with their old cars, especially their old Benzes and BMWs.

I really like W123s when restored. Their looks are just timeless, I wouldn't mind driving them.

Fully restored na ba yung sayo, bro. LSB? Someday I wanna see your Benz collection. Must be nice seeing four (am I right?) old & restored Benzes parked side by side.

Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that you've spent so much time on it, and here they are... more than willing to drive you anywhere.

Some Stanceworks members are MBCP din.

Renzo, my cars are preserved (rust, scratches, dings, battle scars and all). I use them almost everyday, except when its raining, mahirap maglinis eh. I have 2 there in Manila, and 2 here in Bacolod. Since I'm mostly in Manila, the Bacolod cars are in storage, but I'm using both of them now as I'm home sweet home.

Yes, the W123's are the last of the "all-steel" Benzes, over engineered kaya very durable given the right care and maintenance. Well, kung makikita mo nga sa mga movies, hinahataw at pinapatalon sa desyerto, tumatakbo pa rin ...
