OT: yup, it happened to me back in '02,.. meron na talagang tunog, so I thought ok pa ibiyahe,. so paglabas ng village, ayuuun, spontaneously the engine just shuted off,.. it was towed to MMC Pasig/Marikina,.sobrang hassle grabe.

it's slightly more noisy than one with a belt but hardly noticable.

The chains are supposed to last longer than the engine, but it's a good idea to have the tensioners (tama ba yun?) checked every 50-60,000 km to be sure.

Although a timing chain failure is very rare, having the tensioners loosen is not unheard of.

alam ko sa fan belt masmaganda ung v-shaped na grooved kaysa sa solid v-shape...how true is this? kasamaang palad, maxima ko iba ang fan belt, not the v-shape but the flat one..

nga pala, mostly older engines have multiple fanbelts...than sa bago na 1 or 2..bibihira na ang 3 or more...
