To add one other thing. I would flush to engine with a quality engine flush after draining all fluids in the sump. If a petrol engine remove spark plugs and spray a quality anti rust briefly into each cylinder. Use a new filter with the engine flush and hand turn the engine VERY slowly to allow the anti rust spray to loosen any particles. If a diesel engine, short of removing the injectors and spraying as for petrol engine I would hand crank the engine slowly to free up the pistons and rings.

It depends on how long after flooding the above is being done. It must be done as soon as possible.
