April 30th, 2005 06:37 PM #38Just some comments on oils mentioned:
1) Castrol Gtx is not a synthetic oil, their full synth is Formula RS
2) Top 1 synth oil- this is a semi-synthetic oil since the description on the can plus their website calls it a " Synthetic Blend".
3) Toyota synth oil- sourced from caltex
In looking for a synth oil for japan diesel engines, it's better to get one with at least an API rating of CF-4. Most synth oils for gas and diesel carry a rating of API SL/CF.

baka yung ipo-post ni "rallyrick" is yung pang-clean ng engine.
this is the stuff na, during your oil change, drain 1/2 of your old oil, add the "super special cleaning additive," run the engine (idle) for 30 minutes, tapos drain everything. THEN replace the oil filter and put in new oil.
actually kerosene lang yang mga yan eh.)
pwede rin diesel fuel...
although if you want good detergency but not as harsh as kerosene (kasi yung kerosene it will remove all the carbon deposits, eh kung luma na makina mo baka magka-blowby pag natanggal lahat nung carbon) i've heard that a 1:3 blend of ATF (automatic transmission fluid) and ordinary mineral oil will give you most of the detergency characteristics of synthetic oil. remember that ATF is designed for an even more demanding application than engine oil (e.g. torque converter) and is more heat-resistant.
Because pinoy mentality. Not surprising.
