dude...need ur help...any suggestions?
How hard are you running your vehicle?
If you change the oil every 5,000 kms, mineral-based oil will do fine (may sobra pa, pang-gimik). Even in the bump and grind traffic of the metro.
If you are running a turbo or super charged engine at high speeds for extended periods of time or using the vehicle for racing then synthetics are a good choice.

if you like to drive the car hard then go with fully synthetic. it gives you extra peace of mind
Singit ako:
Engine : 4D56 Intercooler Turbo (PAJ gen1)
KM Reading : 159k
Due for change: 160k
Oil used before : Petron Synthetic
I like to change every 5k kaya lang medyo mataas na yung km. reading. I use it for everyday work with the occasional long drive to the province every 3 weeks.
So ano ok mineral or synthetic?
frt,
If your engine is not eating any oil then i'd continue using the Petron synth oil, it's still the best protection for the turbo.
What oil filter have you been using? Any problems with engine?
Mobil1 fully synthetic nasa 1800-2k (5w-50)
Mobil super S.. ganyan gamit ko dati sa civic ko... (10w-40) around P950+
Ngayon Petronas Syntium Fully synthetic na gamit ko. mas better pa sa Mobil1 since API SL rated na sya. 5w-50 din viscosity
Got it for P1350
i am using the TOYOTA full synth oil, sabi elixir daw ang gumawa, same as yung gumawa ng mitsu high perf na mga oil, yung pang racing nila.
its around 2,200 yung isang change oil ko plus 300 na oil filter, lahat po casa. kaya wag na kayo magtaka kung bakit mahal.
i would like to change to mobil1, pero i think 0w-50 ata yung rating, mas maganda daw ang 5w-50 or 15w-50 dito sa atin, is that right? hehe
yeah. synthetic na. ako i use mobil 1 fully synthetic para ok. kasi kung magpalit ako ng oil every 10k km. since ang synthetic, sa worse case scenario, kahit 50k pwede. pero balik tayo sa oil, ok yun. ilang taon na yung ride mo? kasi it really depends on how stressful ang traffic situation na sinasagupa mo, add to that yung driving style mo. kung ala formula 1 driver or rally driver ka e dapat lang na synthetic. pero kung passive drive ka naman, ok i think ok lang siguro yung mineral based oil. basta ba regular lagi ang palit.
I'm using Mistubishi Oil Filter. Wala naman problems, medyo namahalan lang ako sa Petron Full Synth. Gusto ko sana try seaoil kaya lang may thread dito na bad experience daw sa seaoil. Yung iba naman Shell Rimula gamit ok naman daw.Originally posted by jackaroo

0W40 and 5W50, because of their viscous flow rate at their specified ambient temperature range, are more appropriate for temperate and cold climates.
for tropical countries, 15W50 and 20W50 are ok.
frt,
Try Mobil MX 15w40, mineral oil but change every 3-4k km if used a lot in city driving. Think it's about P110-120/L in 5L pack.
jackaroo,
Are you still using petron 5w-30 for your trooper? Just switched to Delvac 1 lately, and noticed that oil pressure is near the halfway mark
just got online thanks for all the suggestions...btw, honda city yung car ko and puro traffik nga yung nasasalamuha ko from ortigas to malate...
