May 4th, 2004 01:15 PM #1oi glenn! chok 2 finally sumali narin ako kasi desperately need an answer to this question. para sa mga auto gurus/forum members/etc din tong question na 2!
ganito kasi un..kala ko lahat ng mobil 1 na super syn pwde sa kahit anong sasakyan.. ung likod nga nung nabili ko may porsche approved pa nga na nakalagay eh and mas mura sa banawe kaysa sa concorde kaya binili ko na. tapos nag check ako ng crv forums ang dapat lang daw na viscosity ng crv gen2 ay 5w-20! pano un? gamitin ko nalang dun sa vtec'96 namin or ok lang naman sa crv nga? will it harm my engine and its performance ba? din rin naman affected warranty diba pag labas ang oil? mahal ng casa 550 isang litro eh(470 bili ko mobil1).
isa pa.. hehe.. ok ba escape v6/mazda tribute/mercury mariner? trip ko talga midsize suv. though pinakamaganda ung mariner, parepareho lang naman platform nila eh.. marami ba tong negative reputation?
cge mahaba na.. hope may sagot kayo for both questions..salamat!Ü

May 4th, 2004 10:21 PM #35w-20 grade is for cold country pls check your manual of crv or read the forum where you saw it. 5w-50 is suitable for tropical country like ours.

5w-50..okay lang gamitin, kaso masyado na mabigat ung oil weight. check mo na lang ung fuel efficiency ng CR-V mo..malamang lalakas ang consumption nyan.
Mariner..? mukhang sa US mo pa oorderin un ah..Tribute na lang!! kung gusto mo talaga mid-size SUV..wait for the FORD Explorer or CHEVY Trailblazer.

nabasa mo rin siguro yung sa hondasuv no? pinagpipilitan nila na 5w-20 daw eh pang cold climate yun hehe.
Just follow what's in the manual. 5w-50 ok pa rin yan.

May 5th, 2004 12:57 PM #7uy mga friends salamat sa reply ha! kasi nawala ung manual ng crv namin eh di ko makita ung oil viscosity na recommended para sa tropical country like ours. ano nga ba ung casa specified na viscosity ng honda phils for crv gen2? as for the thickness na 5w-50... un nga problem baka sobra bigat makaharm sa engine, second oil change palang nito dahil mag 20k palang natakbo niya.. ung first oil change niya casa eh sabi ko synthetic kaso shell synth lang ata nilagay eh balita ko maganda mobil 1. hope meron magreply ng nakagamit o may kilalang gumamit na ng ganiton type and viscosity ng motor oil for newer hondas para di ako mag alangan.
as for the mid-suvs .. check niyo website ng mercury usa ang ganda ng mariner nila based on the escape and tribute.. high-end ata ito eh mejo kahawig ng escape taiwan (which looks better than the local escape) pero mas maganda parin.. sana may ganito sa gray market!

tama sila. ok lang yan, engineered for tropical climates talaga yan. as for the specified in your manual, 5W-20 means para sa much colder climate. ang oil kasi tends to lose its viscosity at extreme temperatures, kaya i suppose ok lang yan. saka, grabe ang trapik dito sa pinas kaya yan 5w-50 will offer a lot of protection talaga, since mas malapot ang timpla nyan.
