napansin ko kasi sa car for example vios 643k for manual...separate pa yung 4,500k for rustproof, 3k for lto, and 35k for the insurance....
question is kun sineparate nila yung rustproof sa actual price ng vios ...meron ba silang nilagay na rustproof sa car or wala?
I recall the factory rustproof of most vehicle manufacturers is already integrated into the factory paint and sheetmetal of the vehicle not like the chemical application as most aftermarket rust-proofers. Pero some manufacturers like my current Mitsu, Honda and our previous Nissans offer aftermarket rust-proof like Tuff-Kote as an additional. In cases like this with the application of aftermarket rustproofing chemicals thus offer a better protection on your vehicle. If included na Tuff-Kote or Ziebart sa new vehicle package then di mo na kailangan ng 2nd rustroof sa labas.

May nabasa ako dati na improper application of rustproofing agents can result in even higher risk of rust.
Yung MB100 at Montero namin sure na walang aftermarket rustproof iyon. Pero ok pa din hanggang ngayon. I think wala ding rustproof iba naming sasakyan. Itong Pajero meron kasi nerbyoso dating may ari. Panay ang pa-casa and allergic sa replacement parts. hehehe.
I so agree with this... I find most of Ziebart's (and other rustproofing companies) products decieving to the consumers. In the US, a lot of manufacturers VOID your warranty when you get aftermarket rustproofing...
The concept is very very simple... What causes rust? When oxygen reacts with iron... Your cars (if they're new) are submerged in a rustproof primer tub (remember the "8 dip zero rust" commercial of Mitsu back in 88?), then painted..
Unless you got into an accident or someone vandalized your paint or the like, your car will NEVER rust since air isn't present on your sheetmetal.
When aftermarket companies spray their so called rustproofing agents to your car, they're just spraying it ON TOP of the factory paint and rustproofing primer... what's the point?
If your car DID get scratched or bumped wherein the metal is exposed then your sheetmetal is prone to rust, EVEN IF YOU HAD YOUR CAR RUSTPROOFED. Why? Simply because the rustproofing coating chips off just like paint... Why spend the extra thousands?
Undercoats make more sense since your bottom chassis gets hit with numerous sharp objects constantly. The chance of the underchassis getting rusted FROM THE INSIDE is pretty remote unless you drilled holes or something...
CASAs offer these aftermarket services just like they offer tint and mattings, they earn a lot from it since they get cuts from each sale without them purchasing inventory or personnel.
My last question is this...
If companies like Ziebart or Tuff Cote didn't come about, are all cars doomed for rust? C'mon
kailangan ba talaga ang rustproofing sa bawat car?
oo kailangan lalo na sa mga areas na bihira mo linisin at makita kung saan may mga nanunuot na alikabok at dumi na maaring mabasa o paglagian ng moisture(underside, behind bumpers, bedliners, door panels-where acid rain drips in...you guys, should have seen the corroded doors of my wife's 1990 AE92)...mas madalas mo gamitin ang sasakyan, mas mataas ang possibilidad ng pagkakaroon ng kalawang...factory rustproofing will not outlast your car's expected life specially if its always exposed to elements(dust, water, air, etc.)
this is the front area of my ride(Civic 2000)...rust is starting to form between the joint area of the bumper bracket...guys, how often do you check the paint condition of the panel behind your bumper? your door panel? your underside? nabaha nga pala ako nung Aug 23...i checked the door panels nung August 25...guess what, the door panel factory rustproofing along the drain holes has hardened and starting to crack..sooner or later it will peel off leaving it unprotected from dirt and water...i don't want to experience what happened to my wife's AE92...

Originally posted by roydok If you plan to keep your vehicle longer than the rustproof warranty of your manufacturer then the answer is YES. It does prevent rust formation as an example in our rust-free 10 year old Feroza. Basta have an annual rustproof check or as recommended by the rust-proofing manufacturer.
If you plan to sell your vehicle before the said warranty expires then it's a NO. Sayang lang pera mo. ;)
:
With our experience with Tuff-Kote pinapatungan nila factory rust proof providing increased protection against rust.

napagusapan dito yung electronic rust proofing device. fyi lang, there is a cheaper, AND MORE EFFECTIVE, alternative to this electronic device.
buy 2 pieces of pure ZINC bars about 1/2" x 1" x 3" long. have 1 piece soldered to the chasis and another piece soldered to the car body, preferably under the car so hindi kita. the zinc acts as an electrode (anode) and effectively repels salts, acids (including acid rain), sulfur and its sulfides, and even plain old oxygen from atacking the iron in your car chasis and body. it makes tha car chasis and body electrically charged with the same polarity as these chemicals. and since same charges repel, then they go away. ok di ba?
it works here in the middle of the ocean, it should work there on dry land.
AFAIK, yun warranties ng ziebart at tuffkote cover corrosion from inside-out and not metal corrosion due to stone chips or other pointed objects..
i agree with yebo, zinc prevents rust by oxidizing itself instead of iron.... most german cars are made with galvanized steel panels...these panels won't rust until after the paint is damaged and the zinc corrodes through to the underlying steel. yebo, yung ginagamit nyo dyan, di na kaya kailangan ng electical current?
peeps, saan kaya makakabili ng pure Zinc bars dito? magkano kaya?
>>peeps, saan kaya makakabili ng pure Zinc bars dito? magkano kaya?
hmmm...junk shops? hardware stores? sa HMR baka meron din...problem is, how do u know it's zinc?
Sa last job ko, me kinalas kami na 19 kopong-kopong na mini computer...ung "hard drive" nya had a base that was made of zinc..or at least they told me it was zinc...sigh....kung maaga mo lang napost by a few years ;).
btw, ano kaya ung minimum dimensions ng zinc bars?
for ZINC bars punta ka sa marine engine supplies, yung mga nagtitinda ng spare parts ng outboard motors. ang outboards kasi ay may zinc bars na naka-weld sa gilid. also, marine vessels have zinc bars welded to its sides below the water line, so this is a normal marine spare part. meron yan sa bandang ongpin, mga marine engine spare parts stores.
don't buy sa ordinary hardware store at baka ang ibigay sa iyo yung LEAD na pang solder sa roofing. ang lead ay "cathode" (as opposed to anode) and it will in fact attract oxygen to iron/steel and cause rust.
