first- your starter circuit 50 does not energize unless 1, you turn the key from run to start, 2 if it was a manual transmission equipped car, you will have to press the clutch in order for the clutch inhibitor switch to close the circuit to the starter relay, if it was an automatic transmission equipped car, the transmission must either be in P or N in order for the starter relay to energize.
second- the ignition switch or its lock cylinder wears out faster if you have a bunch of keys with the ignition key. the cluster of house keys, keys to your girlfriend's apartment, keys to the storage and who knows keys to heaven and earth are dangling from the ignition switch, the lock cylinder is carrying a whole lot of weight it is not intended to support and will accelerate the wear and tear. occasionally, you have to lubricate the lock cylinders with silicone spray when you lubricate the door hinges, hood hinge, trunk lid hinge, fuel filler door hinge and latch
