Wow often should you have all the fittings done?

Once a year? Twice a year?

I read somewhere that you should get it done after every underwash just in case ma-wash away but it seems unlikely cause naka seal naman yung fittings.

I had it done na rin anyway right after I got an underwash the other day and asked the guy there. He said "pag mukhang wala nang laman...palitan na."

Diba naka seal nga... so how do you check?

I have 12 fittings to be lubed (mits montero SWB). last time I had it done they charged me 30 bucks per fitting = P360.00

Kung every 5000 km thats about 3-4 times a year (depending on usage).

Siguro I'll compromise na lang with twice a year before and after rainy season.

ArtPogi, what i understood as I was reading this thread, ay ito yung mga GREASABLE FITTINGS, like sa MitsL200 PICK-UP ETC, wala po nito ang Lancer series o kotse, ewan ko lang sa ibang modelo.

I know...mahal talaga. nag pa-under wash lang ako nang na-isipan kong mag pa-lube tapos nung nakuha ko ang bill P30 daw per fitting. Na-taga yata ako. I had it done sa Dallas Service center sa Morato near corner of E. Rodriguez.

Lesson learned...ask how much first. mahirap pag nagawa na. buti na lang yun lang yon and not something major.

12 per fitting na lang sa Shell Retiro? Dati 14 ha. Buti pala hindi ako natuloy dati. hehehe.

Hindi basta basta maalis ng underwash ang grease. Most of them are inside the components or are protected by rubber boots/grommets. Yung grease gun nga nahihirapan i-force out yung old grease, eh.

    marwen,
The gas station will know these fittings. Techinically they are called zerk fittings or grease nipples. Alam din ng gas station iyon. Almost all truck-based vehicles have fittings that can be lubed.

More than ten fittings ang naaalala ko. Hindi ko kasi makita yung listahan, eh. Meron sa front and rear drive shafts (both ends of both driveshafts pa ata). Sa pitman arm, sa ball joints and kung saan saan pa. Usually concentrated sa front suspension.

Always check that they are changing the grease in all the fittings. There are some fittings that are hard to reach and they might just say that they did them when you're not looking. Alam mo naman ang ibang mekaniko pag di mo kilala...minsan tinatamad.

An alternative is to buy your own grease gun (about P400) with flexible rubber tip and specific grease cartridge. Gives you the option to buy special grease, eg, grease with moly, synthetic grease rather than the regular gas station grease. You can grease up whenever you feel like it!
