Guys, I need some help here. I'm helping my friend restore their 1975(?) Toyota Tamaraw. This is no assembled AUV, this is the classic Tamaraw with the 'snubbed nose' made by Toyota back then.
For the mechanicals I'm planning to take it to Chieffy's. I think the brakes and clutch (hydraulic?) need to be rebuilt/overhauled. I'm gonna have the engine (3K?) checked if any gaskets need replacement and might as well have a new timing belt and water pump put in for good measure. Have I forgotten anything?
Now my main concern is the body. Should we just ditch the original Toyota rear body and put in a new body made by those assemblers in Valenzuela or Cavite or just have it restored by a tinsmith? Some sections badly need replacement and I was thinking of having the analok windows and doors converted to something actually made of glass and steel.
How much do you think will it cost to get a new rear body if ever we decide to go for a new one?
By no means is this project running on an unlimited budget. We were hoping for something in the neighborhood of Php 20k-30k for the paint and body restoration. So I would really appreciate it if you could also tell us where we can source cheap materials and labor for this little project.
I hope you guys can help. Thanks so much.
