it's pretty well known that platinum plugs are "no good" sa jap (non-sport) cars. common complaint din yan sa mazda. for the mazda (and i suspect, most other jap cars) it's better to use the OEM plugs, which are usually Denso or NGK (same company yun) BKR5E or BKR6E.
