Help lang po. About a year ago. 2 months brand new palang I was hit at the side from the rear fender to the bumber. And laglag ang bumber ko. It was fixed by the casa and upto now hindi pa narabing so "dapa" pa yung paint. From the outside mukhang ok naman at maayos ang paint. But up to now. Hindi ako mapakali. I feel like hindi pulido ang gawa and not satified. Although I haved it checked to a friend who owns a auto detailing/repair shop. But still I feel uneasy and wish that I wasn't hit para hindi napagawa.

Less that a month after the repair. May damage naman ang right side running board (eto ba tawag dun) ng car because of a big rock on the corner of the street. When I was making a turn natamaan ko. After so many months hindi kopa napapagawa. From a far hindi naman kasi halata. But when you bend over. Makikita mo at ang haba ng tama. From the front door all the way to the back.

Hindi ko pa alam ang gagawin ko. But I have several options in mind. 1st. I'll cover it with an original side skirt pero linisin muna ang tama and put coating para hindi kalawangin. But the problem is hindi parin ako mapakali. I know na may sira parin at in time baka tumigas na when I want to rapair it mahirapan na in time na ayoko na mag side skirt. 2nd is to rapair it now. But kelangan ng operahan kasi mahirap abutin. My concern about this naman is pag pinaayos ko sa labas or at non casa. baka masira mga ngipin or clip.

What would be the best thing to do?

That's the rocker panel. But locals do call it the running board.

It can be repaired by any good professional bodyshop. Repair methods vary but you pretty much end up with a new-looking rocker panel. The Picanto's rocker panel is metal anyway so most tinsmiths (lateros) can work on it.

Ako shortcut method lang ginawa ko, I just had the area sanded and had it filled up with body filler (it wasn't really so deep, bumakat lang yung bato, wala pang 1/2 inch yung depression). It's not exactly show quality but it's 1/4 the cost and takes less than a day to do. Sa MB100 nga pala ito. Imagine how big a rock that was. hehehe.

thanks for the reply. HEHE.

I have a bad experience kasi sa mga damaged car na nirepair. Hindi tumatagal at nabubulok agad. In short naloko ako. . That was way back. Nakakasama kasi ng loob. Wala pang 1 year dami nang damage. I want it like brand new pa kasi.

And I don't mean may reputation sa mga shows, etc.

Mas mahirap ang crash restoration kaysa sa showcar making kasi nga madaming limitations (time, budget, amount of disassembly, etc.).

I do have my choice of shops depending on the extent of damage.

Kung tanggal yung pintura, make sure you rustproof it kagad para di kalawangin. Kasi some cars have a rocker panel, and some have a filler to cover it up like on most Japanese cars today. One way to know is kung may nakikita kang ridge along its length tapos sa dulo yung jack points na parang may pair ng bungi para sa ngipin ng jacks. If you see those kagad, yun na yung rocker panel.
