December 27th, 2003 10:19 PM #1How tight ba dapat yung mga belts particularly yung alternator belt? How much "free play" when I press on it is tolearble?
I am experiencing a small drop in idle when I have my aircon on and i open my headlight. Yung sudden electrical load na yun causes my idle to drop pero nag-iistabilize naman sya, may drop lang na noticeable. or baka siguro medyo oc lang ako kaya noticeable, hehe.
My self diagnostics or hula is baka the alternator is not pumping enough juice to charge my battery. Battery was replaced a few months back before I had my aircon cleaned where they took down everything including compressor so apektado belts???
san ko ba pwede to pacheck? Accord nga pala and battery is motolite excel 2sm, yung green.
thanks

Belts should have 1/2 upto 1 inch dip when pressed by fingers.
Do not turn on any accessories yet, just after cranking the engine to run. Kung maalala ko ng tama it would take a couple of thousands of rpm from your alternator to restore the electricity drained from cranking. Let the alternator charge the battery atleast a couple of minutes.
It is normal for the engine to dip at idle point especially if the A/C is turned on. Malakas po kasi humatak ng engine load ang compressor. Sa alternator, normal po naman magkaroon ng kaunting dip sa tachometer. Lalo na kung marami kayong components na nangangailangan ng kuryente. Radio, ampli, dome lights, headlights & etc...

belt tightness ko is less than a half inch yata. estimate lang, no actual measurement with a ruler.
observe ko muna uli yung nginig kung nandyan pa din lagi. parang d kasi ganon dati eh.

Too tight belts could be harmful to your bearings, they will wear out sooner than expected. An half an inch dip from your existing blets should be enough.
