bad experience in Motorcraft banawe

Hi guys, im a frequent visitor of this site and i find it very informative and very useful to have an online community wherein we can share our experiences, this morning i went to Motorcraft banawe(aka. CLASS A) owned by Robert Ong, to have my car's Valve Cover Gasket replaced medyo may leak ng konti.

I went there at around 10 am in the morning so nag quote na sa akin ng price imagine a honda civic's Valve Cover Gasket for 700 pesos!!( original daw) and 200 pesos for labor na taga ako. ang laki ng patong to complicate matters, ng binuksan na nila ang valve cover ko ang tagal bago dumating yung spare part when its a simple gasket. Since it was nearing lunch time and i had to go to work pa i hurriedly paid the 900 pesos.

After calling up the Honda Casa i found out the original price was only 391 and im not even sure kung original yung inilagay i found out replacements are as low as 180 pesos.

nakakainis!! Anyways to the mods paki move na lang sa proper threads kung meron na thanks a lot

OK naman ang Motorcraft(dating Class-A). May patong sila talaga sa parts. Baka hindi kayo nagkaintindihan ng Motorcraft/Casa and vice-versa sa type ng gasket. Baka walang puwesto kaya hindi magawa agad?

It seems hindi lang ako ang may bad experience, anyway i have learned my lesson when going to any service shop make sure to just buy your own spare part that way mas makakatipid ka at hindi matataga ng mga vultures hahaha

I go there for the service, not the parts. I always shop around for parts beforehand as Motorcraft does not make any claims of having inexpensive parts.

And I don't leave my vehicle with them (or any other shop).

tama kayo business is business, they have to pay labor and overhead costs, at least alam na ng community na kung saan mahal at saan mura mag pagawa ng mga tsikot nila. thats why this website is so informative.

the shops i would never return to are

baka naman ang nag presyo sa iyo ay yung mga gumagawa doon at sila ang bumili ng gasket kaya natagalan dahil naghanap pa, kaya tinubuan ka nila ng sabihin nila price pumayag ka almost 4x ang price, sana nag canvass ka muna ng parts

yup there is always a first time for everything, haay wala akong kadala dala, in fairness this is my first time na magpalit ng valve cover gasket at least nakita ko kung ano lang ang bubuksan napakadali lang naman pala, at least marunong na ako i can DIY it myself.


haaay madami talaga manloloko na shop yung N-GAGE sa may e rodriguez grabe din kung makataga yun.

Bigla kong naalala, OEM Valve cover ng Kia Besta wala din Php200.00. Nung binili ko, tinuruan na lang ako nung tindero kung pano magkabit. hehehe.

it's a business, they are entitled to make money.

since you are a consumer, you are also entitled to shop around.

Per experience, prices of parts bought directly from the repair shop/talyer usually costs more then buying your own (part of this is the price of convenience perhaps).

I havent been to that shop BTW... might do so one of these days though.

unless the shop is also an auto supply, you can expect the prices to be a bit higher.

it's like if you go to a restaurant, you don't total up the cost of the ingredients then pay that amount. you go there to be served a good meal. and you pay the premium for that.

or a antique store, you don't pay for the price of the wood, but for the finished product.

if you could do the same job yourself, then you wouldn't have to pay the premium. buy the parts, get sweaty and dirty pero free na labor and you get the parts at cost. pero since you can't... you do expect to pay people who can do it for you competently and correctly.

Well said, not that di ako nagsisymphatize sa nagastos mo pre, pero LAHAT ng purchases dapat naman talaga you check the prices muna and make a decision kung fair ba ang presyo na binigay sayo... In terms of labor cost, this is something you can't objectively quantify din naman as shops will have different overhead costs depending on their rent, how much they pay their workers and their business plan.

Tama sinabi ni Migs about restaurants, di ba taga ang 25-30 pesos isang basong Coke sa McDo compare mo sa isang 2liter sa supermarket?

How come a Porsche oil change/tune up costs 12K while a regular shop charges less than 2K?

some shops really don't tack on that much of a premium. isa na diyan si mr. speedyfix

actually i find it kind of puzzling. if a shop doesn't tack on a huge price premium on the parts, then they only make money on the LABOR.

but in my experience, labor in this country is really dirt cheap unless you're talking about the casa. but even at the casa it turns out, about 70% of any repair bill is parts cost. labor cost is really a small fraction.

so the question is: how does a car repair shop make any money?? pinoys are so fond of cheap-ass repairs. but since the parts cost can't go down beyond a certain point, in order for any given shop to become "known" for cheap service, they have to depress their labor cost.

hence we see the escalating bad press about Mang Mario.

actually i've come to the conclusion that, if you want good service cheap, you have to do it yourself. if you want cheap and don't want to get dirty, expect only adequate service at best.

good point orly. we can't have the best of both worlds. You want premium service, you'll also have to pay a premium price, if you want cheap labor, don't set your expectations too high. Ang pinaka maganda nga is to DIY some minor jobs at least you save on labor cost, if you don't want to get down and dirty well shop around and canvass.

we offer some minor services din but we markup items and charge accordingly.

minsan kasi ibang shops grabe ang markup, walang pakealam kahit halatang sobrang mahal basta kumita lang sila. well nawawalan naman sila ng customer, their loss.
