Hindi ba dapat sabay ang replacement ng chain and tensioner?
How you know that the noise is coming from tensioner and not on chain itself?
Ano ba tunog ng chain/tensioner? How do you distinguish is from the engine noise?

theveed, no problem... about the slight noise, i don't think it should be a big problem. if it gets worse tho that's when you should start to worry.

field master, the engine itself shouldn't make that much noise. if it does then that's probably the shims shouting to be replaced. engine noise will typically be heard right on top of the valve cover... timing chain noise will be only on one side. not that hard to distinguish if you ask me... just notice where exactly the noise is comming from.

theveed, yung tunog non sana its not the chain hitting the chain guide. If you let the problem persist, baka magaya ka sa 240SX ko na kailangan na ng engine swap. AFAIK, sakit ng Nissan 240SX ang chain hitting the chain guide. Baka lang kasama sa Sentra ang mga sakit na ganyan.

if something is hitting baka sira lang dyan is yung hydraulic na tensioner. easy naman to see if that is working.

I doubt na its hitting the chain guide Kards. Kasi kahit irev ko redline walang tunog talaga, early morning start lang meron (very short noise). Isip ko kasi baka sa langis... Regardless, hehe papacheck ko din kay Miggs next month during oilchange and tuneup

...my dad's C220 is due for oil change and tune up. 100k na tinatakbo, so re: the timing chain; upper and lower tensioner lang ang bibilhin ko for its maintennance, tama ba?

...and yes, parang tunog diesel na siya, please advise.

while the engine is open you might as well replace everything that needs replacing para you extend the service interval again.
