Ford Explorer
Ford Escape
I told my cousin, "Why the heck do they make Chargers and stuff taxis here? You know, that makes me feel bad about where we came from." He asked, "What's weird about those cars being taxis?"
Politicians ought to see their luxobarges as taxis in Las Vegas and someplace else.
i dont find them weird. Mga taxis na bago ko lang nakita sa road:
Hyundai i10
Toyota altis (latest model)
chery qq
chery sedan (dont know the name)
toyota echo (old model)
chevy aveo
may nakikita ako dati corolla na big body na naka spoiler/wings, lowered, tapos naka 17 inchers pa ata na low profile wheels. sa las pinas ko nakikita iyon dati. it wasn't wierd but it was definitely unusual (& a bit impractical too)
- Sa Bacolod, Kia na korteng fastback (kinda like a Ford Focus) na ginagawang taxi. Di ko alam kung anong tawag sa modelong yon. 2nd hand "imports" daw w/c make their way from Cebu. A lot better than the old Mitsu Minicas back in 19kopong-kopong.
- In Singapore, I've taken a Hyundai Sonata taxi
- Toyota Crown in HK.
- Ford Falcon in Sydney. Dang, it had a V8 under the hood, and an LPG tank in the back.
Rather than think that certain car brands look odd as taxis, I envy countries that can afford to use such cars as taxis. I don't agree that just because it's a taxi, it should be some low-end model that's uncomfortable to be in. After all, I am paying. So why should I settle for a rickety old Corolla if for the same fare I can be in a newer, more comfy Altis - with a headrest in the back, more legroom, doesn't stink, etc.?
