Model 3 at 2.1m is amazing value tbh

    Seal is 2.55m, Civic HEV is 2m, Camry Hybrid is 2.4m, IS300h is 2.9m, 318i is 3.6m....

All those are cars above are tiny market though

Hopefully the Japanese will finally take notice and price their products accordingly. Less excuses now.

I've been saying nga that after the government implemented zero taxes on HEVs and BEVs, these companies have been pocketing the money lang and only giving minimal discounts to consumers.

Compare the local price of Tesla to the MSRP in the States and the markup is like 100k - 200k only. Same thing with the Chinese stuff, same thing with the Ioniq 5N:

Model 3 Performance - P3.1M. US MSRP is 50k without the federal tax credit, or P2.95M. Difference is P150k only (5%)

    Ioniq 5N = P4.25M, US MSRP 69k or P4.05M. Difference is 200k only (5%)

But the traditional brands ang layo pa din ng prices sa USD or RMB MSRP.

    Camry Hybrid = P2.45M. US MSRP (SE model) = $32k or 1.87M. Difference around 580k (31%)

Lexus RZ450e = P5.228M. US MSRP (Luxury model) = $65,580 or P3.83M. Difference P1.398M (36%) -- And this is giving Lexus PH the benefit of the doubt that what they're selling is the higher-end Luxury model. If it's the Premium then the US MSRP is under $60k.

Now Tesla (and the Chinese) are going to eat their lunch.

Tesla has a lower cost marketing structure ... you can only order online ... no sales agents ... just showroom ... price is fixed ... everyone gets the same price ... no dealer shenanigan ... Hyundai here has no market power so they need to price accordingly ...

Those JAP will have to rethink their moves next fiscal year once Tesla capture that tiny market.
Customers on this car segment will surely consider TESLA due to pricing.
Question lang, hindi ba made in China TESLA units here?

Almost certainly we're getting units from Shanghai.

But if you look it up it seems that the quality of Teslas coming from Shanghai is much higher than those from California. Corroborated by many owners.

Then this is a threat to Jap companies selling overpriced hybrids.
    This is good for consumers.

Iba pa rin quality ng Tesla compare to BYD.
Their cooling system for battery is impressive.
Not familiar with how good cooling system of BYD though.

That’s what most car people in the US thought. Didn’t happen. The Toyota/Honda reliability mantra is unshakable. People are still crazy blindly willing to buy these cars above MSRP, it’s ridiculous.

    Elon’s politics didn’t help either.

Wasn't the Tesla Model Y the best selling car in the world for 2023? Tesla Model Y secures position as world’s best-selling car in 223 - JATO

If the RAV4 and CRV are still strong I guess it took more sales from the other CUVs like the Escape/CX5 etc.

If you use the China Price

A Model 3 is 231,900 cny or P1.88m for the base model (220k markup)

Hard to figure out which variant of the Seal is being sold but it is at least RMB 202,800 (1.65m) and up to RMB 249,800 (P2.03m) for the 82.5kwh model. (520-900k markup)

AC's margins are lot bigger than whoever is bringing in Tesla. I wonder if they will respond by bringing in a lower end model or slashing prices. On the other hand I dont think the price will stay at 2.1m for long

Ive ridden a Model 3 a couple of times as an Uber and it rides well but the interior is incredibly bland compared to a BMW or Lexus. However its much cheaper than any of those now.

True. No need to visit the showroom.
Everything can be done at the comfort of your own home.
Pay the reservation fee via Credit Card.
    Wait for your email.
Download the Tesla App and link the email.
Wait for your VIN number and Delivery date.

All this without stepping into the showroom and talking to any SA.
    An Introverts Dream. hahaha

BYD Ph is selling to TOTL Premium AWD model here. its meant to compete with the Model 3 Performance. so the Seal is around 500k cheaper.
Not sure if they will release the other variants of the BYD Seal. The BYD Seal model variants usually undercuts its equivalent Model 3 variant.
Their next release looks like the BYD King, a PHEV sedan.

Tesla is apparently under attack in the usa.

    https://x.com/elonmusk/status/190202...Xt-xuy5gA&s=19

Also, Tesla stocks are being battered in the stock market. His unofficial co-presidential venture w/ trump seems to be not doing too well.

Summary of Car care nut's take for Tesla cars:
    Good side:
    1. Good and simple electrical system, beautifully engineered, ahead of not a mile but 10 miles ahead than the competition. Rarely see spaghetti wires and hoses inside the electrical system and cooling system.
    2. Properly engineered cooling system. Heating and cooling design for battery is top-notch.

    Bad side:
    1. Other than electrical system, they don't care how the exterior and interior is assembled. They are worse in terms of quality of assembly for interior and exterior parts.
    2. It seems Tesla is only heavily invested on electrical and motor system. Other aspects of the car, they don't care and didn't invest much.
    3. Exterior and Interior ergonomics are not good. Many pointed objects that will hurt people if they don't notice the design flaw.

Just sharing for everyone that are planning to buy Tesla cars.
Don't expect to have interior and exterior to be comparable with European brand and TOTL Jap cars.
