    Hi,

Just to share my experience with my Astra and the 93 octane rating, the engine emission light is no longer "On" after several days of using the 93 octane silver. Natasatanas earlier post may be correct that "naka-learn mode pa ecu dahil sa shift ng gas from its previous owner."

Has anyone tried duplicating the car keys of an Astra 2001? The key size is different from other cars. Its wider at the base. For this model, is it true that they needed to be programmed or something?

    Thanks.

i lost my keys dati and had it ordered sa gm q ave pa...that took about a month. i posted pictures sa opel forum dati regarding the chip needed to have it programmed/ synced sa computer ng astra mo. hanapin ko po sir sa files ko. you will also need the key code pala sir as well as the immobilizer code para sa syncing, which i lost as well...casa handled everything for me since sa kanila naman galing yung astra ko. they emailed daw germany mismo for the right key using yata my engine number. dunno any truth to that though.
the key code will determine the type of key gagawin DAW ng opel germany. sample ng S code key: http://im3.ebidst.com/upload_big/4/6...90-10700-0.jpg against sample ng D code key: http://im4.ebidst.com/upload_big/8/2...37-11776-0.jpg
notice the wide cut and the groove of both samples, magka-iba. mine was the S code key. yung transponder chip yung nasa left na black piece sticking out on both keys. yan yung kelangan syncing para sa immobilizer for the car to start.
total damage i payed gm q ave = almost 5,000 yata with the remote, chip, and the right key cut. hiwalay pa yung syncing pala ng key transponder to ecu, 1,500pesos.

try mo lang provide your engine at body number sa casa sir. they should be able to do the rest for you. try mo sa gm in quezon ave, call them first to confirm if they can do it...kung 'di nila kaya, try mo sa ibang gm casa tawag para sure.

+1 on what Sir natasatanas said about the Opel car keys...

I must add though that you should be prepared to sit down first before you ask for the price of your keys. It may just be the most expensive car keys you'd ever buy!!!!!!

thanks sir docgorio...mark na lang pls., yung handle ko ginawa dati ng kaibigan ko for me as a prank.
wala pa tayo dito sa mini-forum ng meetup/inuman e.b.?

    BTT:
about the price pala, try to call up different casa and ask for qoutes, dont forget about the syncing ng transponder to immobilizer fee as well. yung mga casa kasi dont have standard rates, mahal sa iba. para maka-mura ba, and determine sino maayos kausap sa kanila. ako kasi sa gm q ave lang stick kasi they give me good service naman ever since. i hope sayo as well...best of luck sir and please do update us dito sa thread

    good evening sirs..

saw this thread while looking for a good mechanic for our astras. i got an astra (2003 AT 1.6) just 2 weeks ago and will undergo a restoration process.. i got it second hand from my father under an "ondoy" condition.. it only got to the floor and all was saved..i just need to have the carpets and stuff cleaned and detailed though..

yes..the car didnt get the right attention since then due to budget and other vehicular priorities..bec 5 cars got hit during ondoy, and i'm into the last two cars to restore and bring back to life..

the problem was..we changed all the oils, battery, the basic tuneup neccesities..and the old mechanic started the car..it went ok for a few minutes..until it died down to no avail of restarting... he forgot to change the old gas that maybe deteriorated over those months, and so i guess the ecu thought it was just brandy or scotch he's burning and died ;)

as per my tuner, i needed to replace the 1.fuelpump, 2.take the gastank out and clean it, change to the right octane, 3. reassure all fluids (oil, dexron3,etc)..the basics. then check all brakes for pad changes...until we come to the part that we stoich tune it back.

sirs..would you know a really reasonable/confident mechanic to have this car be home-serviced if i have all his recommended initial parts needed? thanks for the support sirs.. hope to have this car rolling by january.

    more power!

    On a more serious note...

Where can I get hold of oil filters and spark plugs for our Astras in the South Metro?? If we cannot get originals, what are the suitable replacement oil filter and spark plug??

Greenhills and Banawe seems too far nowadays...
