Wanna take it sometime next month for a through check up. Its already at 72K... still ticking.. hehe..
I do not know anyone in Makati yet that has knowledge of an ASTRA.

Regarding the engine, This is usually caused by using low octane gasoline such as UNLEADED for an extended time. Using unleaded gas causes a greasy sparkplug and a dirty valve body and EGR valve.
Another cause of an unstable idling is a defective COILPACK.

    1) use PETRON BLAZE ONLY if you are using XCS or some other gas.
    2) have the valve body internals cleaned-including the butterfly flap, hoses leading to the valve body and the breather hoses.
    3) replace the spark plugs to OPEL OEM
    4) replace the air filter
    5) replace the fuel filter
    6) Remove the EGR valve and clean the holes if it is clogged.
    7) Have the coilpack tested. Makikita ng mechanic yan kung malakas ang spark by removing the coilpack and physically looking kung malakas ang spark per sparkplug.

If you read your owners manual, the engine has this knock control that adjusts to low octane gasoline but it states decreased engine power and a possible knocking sound when accelerating. Extended knocking sounds is very bad for the engine. Masisira yan and maybe masira pa ang mga pistons, valves and compression ng car. OVERHAUL ang katapat nyan!!

Regarding the knocking sound on the suspension. Madaming pangagalingan yan. The usual suspect is our plastic stabilizer link and suspension bushings and shock mountings.

Hi guys. I'm glad I came across this forum. I own a pre-owned 2000 model black Astra wagon. I've had the car for about 2 years now. I also experienced the same problem with the rear power windows (passenger side) but opted not to take it to GM Makati for the same reasons that you're all perfectly aware of.

If I may, I'd like to ask for the contact details of Fronte. I have a lot of other things that I need to have repaired on my car. Also, can anyone here recommmend a good engine mechanic? I may have to have my car top-overhauled. I'd appreciate your replies.

By the way, I tried to register on the new site, OPC, but didn't succeed. I'll try again some other time.

K.. I'll go back to the Blaze... hope that can cure some probs..
As for the K&N its drop in type.. how do I check on the MAF?
Pollen filter, where can I get my hands on one?

As for the car with the spade... I got a pic from a manual I downloaded before.. how do I attach pics?
In reading the manual it says that this is a Control indicator for engine electronics, the following passage reads..
"if the lamp come on when the engine is running, there is a fault in the engine or transmission electronics. The electronics switch to limp-home mode, fuel consumption may increase and driveability of the vehicle may be affected. In some cases the fault can be eliminated by switching the engine off and back on again." (which is what I do and it disappears)

Hope I can find a solution for this soon.. thanks edl for the help.. really appreciate it.. so when's the next EB? hopefully i'll be able to make it..

Ohh. i think I know what spade you are talking about. It is actually called a "Check Engine" light. Somewhere inside our car, there is a faulty electronic thing. It can be known when we hook it up to a OBDII computer. We can either go to GM casa or kay SPEEDYFIX sa santolan. He has a LAUNCH computer already.

I talked with a mechanic in UK and he told me that it usually lights up when the emission sensors pick up too many pollutants in our exhaust. Due to bad ignition caused by bad gasoline and engine spark. It is also caused by that EGR valve when it gets too dirty and clogged inside.

As for the MAF. Better not touch it. It is too sensitive. It cannot even be cleaned by rubbing. The most is put clean pressurized air in it to remove dust and grime. Basta nasira ito, walang choice but to replace it.

For the pollen filter, It is available in any opel parts store.

Madali lang bro magpalit ng Pollen Filter... EDL pointed me to right direction. Tanggalin mo yung glove box then sa may parteng gitna mayroon kang makikita na rectangular plastic measuring about 6"x1" tapos naka-hold siya with a clip and a philip screws. Pag natanggal mo na yung plastic cover just slide out the pollen filter and vacuum the inside para matanggal pa yung mga pollen deposit doon... then replace it with a new one. may guide naman with an arrow kung alin yung parteng blower side.

Once na mapalitan mo yan... you can notice the difference kaagad. mawawala na yung stale smell. I was surprised na mura lang pala diyan ang pollen filter. It cost me $41AUS whilst the Air filter cost me only $16AUS

Kewl.. so all I gotta do is send it to GM again and have them take a look at it.. for some reason I don't really trust the people at GM.. hehe.. dunno what everyone else thinks.. but i'll just have them use the OBDII on the car.. and have someone else take care of cleaning up everything else..
K.. mental note.. do not touch MAF at all.. :D

    NEWS:

We might have our own Philippine OPEL CLUB website and forums!!

I am working on it. The fee is only P500 for a year for a domain name hosting.

The guy who will do it is the same guy who did the free websites and forums of Vios club, autoeuropa club, and girl racers club.

Within a few days, baka may own website na tayo!!

BTW, if you look at the views of our thread, we are the most popular thread here at tsikot.com!!

What would be a good name?
    1) Opel Club Philippines
    2) Club Opel
    3) Project Opel
    4) OPC (Opel Philippines Club)
    5) ???

edl Opel Philippines Club sounds good, parallel to the OPC go fast parts for our Opels

To Jho, regarding ABS lighting up, had that problem, i had to change my left ABS sensor, unfortunately it comes as an assembly with the hub, i think it was around P8k at Fronte (replacement brand, so far so good). Actually the price isn't that bad because i asked how much a Toyota sensor would cost and the quote was P6k (CASA nga lang). The mechanic who fixed mine was Jun mechanicals (kamukha ni Pekto), dalawa kasi mekaniko na Jun pangalan sa Fronte, Jun mechanicals and Jun electricals (freelancer not really part of Fronte, ok sya for power windows, wiring harnesses etc). Hope this helps.

*Jho, yung "S" means sports mode. If you press that whilst running makikinig mo yung pagkakaiba ng acceleration... mas mataas yung RPM bago siya mag shift sa mas mataas na gear... yung "*" sign naman is for snowy countries normally... kapag nag-pull out ka from parking and that stuff is enabled the gear will automatically shift at higher gear (3rd gear yata)... it's useful din diyan sa atin kapag maputik... na-experience ko na yan diyan sa atin one time and talagang nag-skid gulong ko buti na lang naka manual tranny ako so no problem...

btw, I like hte sound of OPC....

Our own website and forums will come out soon. the name I registered was Club Opel Phillippines sa domain name. kung OPC kasi, it will have a confusion with the real opc website and copyrighted na yung OPC acronym.

At last, di na tayo squatter dito sa tsikot.com

I think medjo konti pa din tayo to have an EB.

I'll try to setup the official Opel club website by next week. Hopefully, it can be advertised on the other car forums too so we can have more exposure. Very limited ang viewers natin sa tsikot.com.
