    my sympathies....

it is a bit on the slow side but who needs speed in manila traffic.

well, you might want to overtake that tricycle or something in that idea...

i am happy with my purchase.

to each his own, I guess...

the car looks elegant. rides really solid.

so is the Mazda3 for a lot less money...

has additional features like closing windows with the turn of the key while outside the car...that was new for me...hehehe.

you'll get tired of the toys in a week... just like the 7speed CVT thingie of the Honda City.

maintenance costs would be maybe 20 to 30% more than a japanese car...

I suggest you save up starting today... My brother's Opel Omega had a tranny failure within the warranty period. Opel charged him over 400K for a replacement unit.

there is also a store in banawe that specializes in opel parts...fronte yata ang name...

make sure that store is still there... it might be having hard times given that previous Opel owners are getting rid of their Opels like the plague.

anyway my only complaint is the radio...it came with a tuner and cassette player...
With all the car audio shops... I think you can find a replacement within your budget.

opel astra is an economical car in terms of gas consumption. maintenance is not that expensive (a bit similar to honda in pricing). my only complain is that service is not that good sa casa.

Be wary of GM's service track record.

well i've had it for about 2 months and so far so good...it's actually the wagon part that made me decide on this car...parang it's the best buy wagon in the market today....i've always wanted a wagon.

wala munang kokontra, anyway if i encounter problems i'll let you guys know...

konsumo ko 7km to a liter...pwede na to for a matic...

well, aside from the Subaru Legacy, its the only wagon on the market that is relatively new.

The interior space is really a tight fit. It only sits four in relative comfort... but even then, legroom for those at the back seat is still cramp... not a car for the long drives out of town.

mabagal but once you adapt your driving habit to it's characteristic, even yung automatic mabilis (with s-mode of course).
Malaiking factor din kasi yung driver eh...

GM's service quality is horrendous. Management arrogance is just as insulting.

I own an Opel Omega Elegance which they #$*%!!! up big time.

Ahhh Opel Astra. If only we could turn back time and waited for the CRV. A couple of months ago, more than 2 weeks naka-tengga sa garahe yung Astra ng nanay ko. The culrpit? Yung WATER PUMP. Di pa umaabot ng 30K ang kilometrahe nung oto pinaltan na yung water pump!

What happened was a few weeks before that happened, napansin ko na parang may gumagaralgal whenever you rev it. We were pretty sure na bearing ang problema, problem was how to trace it. So siyempre dinala sa casa yung oto. Sabi sa tatay ko aabutin daw ng P7,000 yung pagpapagawa nun. T*RANTADO pala sila eh!!! So anyways, binili na lang yung piyesa kay Thunder, tas pinagawa namen sa suking mekaniko namen, with the help of some special tools he borrowed from his neighbor.

Damage was around 3K more or less. Recently naman, yung battery naman bumigay! Pinaltan namen ng Motolite, and everything's fine so far.

    Hayyy Opel...

Hehehe... I'm handling the service of my boss' Opel Astra now. Here's the running scoreboard:
30K Service (car was 3 years old then)
    - timing belt
    - bearings
    - water pump
    - battery
    - belts

40K service (just this week, car is 4 years old now)
    - tie rod ends (2.5K each)
    - rack ends (2K++)
    - front shocks (OEM is 7.5K* at Thunder, 4K++ if we use Bilsteins)
    - AC cleaning (3.5 -6K depending on the shop you ask... at the CASA, the charge is P8,120.00 for the cleaning alone) and it takes quite some time as they have to take down the whole dash.

On the bright side, OEM oil filter costs P150* only... cheaper then Toyota, Nissan and Mitsu oil filters :D

Actually, my family once considered a slightly used Astra station wagon since its quite clean to look at and has a solid feel when you drive it but the low resale value made us think twice (why was it low???)... A one day experience of mine at GM Autoworld answered the question (when i brought in a relative's Suburban for servicing)

2K model yung kanya. It's driven between Makati and QC most of the time and isnt really abused except for the driver he had some time ago who ran it hard on the EDSA potholes.

If you bring the car to the CASA, maraming problema ang lalabas. :D I think the timing belt and related items are advised by the CASA to be changed at 30K... strange.

He's already selling his car early next year though when his car plan is renewed...
