The salary scheme of paying an employee based on the standard of living of his country of origin is also been adopted by your current company? List of countries you've been assigned to and which of these countries do you think is the best and the worst place you've been to.

I think, yes the salary is always based were the country you came from,I mean the standard of living..In my experience I've been assigned in many places in this world, like europe,US,south america, south africa and some places in asia..but for me nothing is better than my own country,sipsip..but thats true, kasama ang family,.and the worst place that i have been to is Nigeria,africa..harap-harapan ninanakawan ka,pirates, violence etc,,kaya ingat kayo pag nakarating doon..

Nag work din ako sa africa. It's Gabon to be exact under Total-Elf contract.Location was in the middle of the jungle. Hate the waiting time din sa Paris airport kasi almost 15 hours dahil flight to asia starts close to midnight lagi.

Yeah, it was exciting and dangerous at the same time. Katakot yong elephant attack. Muntikan na kami ng driver ko. Buti lang he switch off our vehicle's headlight. Minsan naligaw sa base camp namin, yon tumba ang mga light post at damaged ibang accomodation namin ginawang pang kamot sa katawan nila... he he he

That's TRUE for some BIG Company..But for us depenende kung saan ka ma base.. generally pag sa Africa like mentinoned above may Hazard allowance kami.. during Gulf War meron ding War allowance..pag sa desert may desert allowance...But Basic salary is the same.. Cycle Shift .. depende sa location pag offshore 28/28 pag onshore interior base max na yong 60/30 kalimitan 42/28... pag medyo swerte nakaka kuha ng 14/14... bale 2weeks work 2weeks vacation (my current cycle). with salary and Free Air ticket country of origin... salary advance at extra money for 20kg bagage allowance..

Sa sweldo, former company ko ganyan kaya it's always an issue especially to those na "puti" ang kapalitan since the difference is talagang malaki. Infact meron isang indian guy who've questioned the personnel manager asking whether the company is paying an employee by his job or by his nationality. He was completely pissed kasi reliever nya na scotish is getting over 6K samantalang sya 2.3K lang doing the same job. Mabuti tong bagong company ko difference is 200-300 US lang sa mga kasama kong australian at french which is fair enough. Syempre pa low salary effect lang ako dahil baka mabanatan din ako ng living standard though policy nila equal oppurtunity to all. Sa assignment naman, I've been din to europe, africa, middle east at some asian countries but never accepted sa pinas kasi malaking amount mawawala sa salary plus syempre bayad ka pa ng tax. Sa akin thailand offshore was the best dahil doon ako nagsawa ng beer papunta o pauwi sa location saka daming chicks. Algeria is the worst since 2 of our engineers, a french and an italian was beheaded dyan. Pinakawalan nila ang isa who's nigerian.

pahamak nga yung kidnapping na yan sa nigeria eh. may offer ako dyan last year na talagang interested ako. bali dubai based yung company and they will put up the same business doon sa nigeria at inoffer sa akin. oilfield automation consulting company bali. tungkol sa mga plc's, scada and dcs. ok lang starting around 6k usd,at 3mo cycle. pero ang target ko doon ay ang carrer advancement. nag drag ang deployment ko for more than 3 months dahil nga dyan sa kidnapping na yan(besides my whole family disagree with me going to work there). anyway the company send me one month salary. but eventually i came up to my senses and we call it quits(i think my guardian angel/holy spirit has something to do we my decision). they only took the airline ticket kasi agency ang bumili nun but yung one month salary advance ko di na nila kinuha. kasi nga naman 3 months nila akong pinaghintay na walang income eh.

Everest pero in one of the camp site lang na mababa..

oo totoo yan, talagang napakaraming training courses ang pinapakuha ng mga oil companies ngayon as standard na,,safety first ika nga,,at least ay para din sa atin just in case, pero huwag naman sana. di lang maganda ay uulitin mo after a certain time na ma-expire or kailangan mag refresh ka uli, lalong lalo na yong offshore training courses that includes(helicopter underwater escape training)..
