Ewan ko lang ha pero pagdating sa reliability ay OK naman ang pre-90's na mga Nissan. We have 2: a 1988 Maxima with a CA20 engine and a 1990 Sentra with a GA14 engine.

Just make sure to maintain it well para hindi masakit sa bulsa pag nasiraan na.

hope our Nissan GL will live up to its billing--- one of the best - MPV na sedan pa...! however, not thinking of the resale value since this car might lasts more than anybody's expectations... its suspension is great!

Is it my imagination, or do Nissan cars really have lower resale value compared to their toyota, mitsubishi, and honda peers?

If yes, why is this so?

I think that this is unfair to nissan considering that their engines and aircon seem to be really good and they are one of japan's top manufacturers.

Yes, Nissans have lower resale value compared to the Toyota, Honda and Mitsu. Its because of the reliability problems of old Nissans, Stanza and the like. There is also a common misconception that Nissan parts are hard to find and expensive.

Nissans are good cars. Especially if your in the market for used cars. Laki ng matitipid mo vs T or H.

    Honda, Toyota, .................................................. ...............................
    ................................Nissan, .................................................. ..........
    .............................Hyundai, Kia, .................................................. .....

I think I agree w/ you dude, I am a balikbayan from Cali and was shocked to see the resale value of cars here are different considering that in the U.S it's just all about the Big 3 Japanese global automakers which consits of Toyota, Nissan and Honda. The big 3's resale value are almost at par with each other. Miss ko na nga SE-Rs dun eh.

Siguro I would disagree lang that in your... uuumm "tabulation"? that Honda is 2nd and Nissan is 3rd.. Actually, that's not the case all the time, it just depends lang on the seller and the condition of the car. We sold a Camry before when we were still in the States.

I talked to one of the car dealers here and it was simply because of the stigma Nissan had when it entered our country, it suffered a lot of descrimination coz many pinoy think that time local pioneers Toyota was Godlike (a pinoy mass mentality I guess). Heresays naman daw mostly, but the thing daw that is a bit true was the expensive parts issue, kinda true daw.

Lets put it this way in a 2nd hand Toyota- a bit expensive but really cheap parts, on Nissan- cheap 2nd hand car but a bit expensive parts. And oh, I think Nissan and Mitsu here are at par at resale value, just Honda and Toyota.

I think this started when the 1st Nissan Sentra came out, it was perceived to be a lemon because as some people say they have crappy suspension, which then became a stigma that became attached to every other Nissan models hence the low resale value.

does the same stigma apply to Nissan Pickup trucks and vans, or is it only in their car models?

I think its a different story for the pickups and the Urvan, Nissan pickups are known to be very durable while for the Urvan its all praises unlike the Vanette which has a pretty bad rep.

in my limited experience with the nissan car... the resale value of a NISSAN CAR is lower because ang parts nito ay laging assembly pag pinalitan (dati ito ewan ko na ngayon) thus making it expensive.

with regards naman sa pick-up and UV, isa naman sila sa mahal because their TD series engines are powered by timing gears so it is nearly INDESTRUCTIBLE. Tumatagal talaga.

I know a frontier na near 7 years old and 300,000+ km na (malapit ng mga 400,000) and still running very well. Nissan casa is indeed amazed with that pick-up.

How about the x-trail? I find X-trails seems to have lower resale as well compared to CRV and RAV4s, to think that its a good vehicle.

the sentra boxtype left a lasting impression on Filipinos that nissan cars are trash, negatively impacting the resale value.

Quite an undeserved reputation, if you ask me.

we had one ourselves, tagal nang nabenta. Had a lot of suspension problems

Also had a 1.6 Sentra boxtype before, the suspension is weaker than a Corolla of the same era but definitely better than any Lancer from the singkit to the pizza pie, also had a Lancer itlog before and that was the worst car I ever owned, the boxtype Nissan was a better car than the Lancer.

    Yup.

Shame about the boxtype. We had the California, the five door model, and the suspension served us just fine for the four or five years we owned it. Maybe the settings were stiffer, but we never got the problems that the sedan owners got.

Then we had several Sentras and a Vanette. The only one that gave us any trouble at all was our last Sentra, a Sentra Exalta. This was at the time that Nissan Philippines was taken over by Nissan Yulon. The problems were mostly cosmetic (fragile trim pieces, etcetera) or to do with minor wiring (Taiwanese electronics versus the JDM electronics of the previous Sentras? No contest).

And it was only this Sentra that ever gave us suspension issues. But they weren't terrible... and not any worse than the issues experienced by friends and family with Corollas, Civics and Lancers.

I still miss our 00' FE. Great car. Gave us absolutely no trouble at all.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

to add on having a sentra (now) and several lancers:

    - i had my biggest share of problems on my ex-singkit, ex-itlog and ex-pizza. and my B14 now, even though it has problems (its second hand) is cheaper to repair dahil puro minor problems lang... in fact, my ex-pizza, smokes already (despite being a 2k model), compared to my current B14, which is a 96 model.

durability, i think nissans are better, perceptions lang talaga na better yung H and T.

i once had a vanette. got it brand new. sold it after 6 months. the problem was the constant overheating and small battery that you could not upgrade to a bigger one due to the space and location. the next nissan i had was a patrol and it served me well for 7 years before i sold it

Because they are made into taxi or car services thus hurting the brand.
