The new Nissan MICRA was reviewed by Fifth Gear. In summary, they hated the new car.

they should learn to introduce their appealing line-ups. Panay naiisnub na lang yung mga iniintroduce nila kasi mukha ng old-school yung mga nirerelease nila dito as compared to the rest of the brands.

Kumpara niyo naman sa nirerelease nila sa USDM yung Teana at Sentrang nilabas nila dito walang-wala talaga. They could get a bigger share of the market if those in the position of selecting which cars to bring here in our shores are those that actually know what looks good both on the inside and out (madalas kasi nilalaban na lang nila dito is yung makina, interior, pero kung tignan mo yung design sa labas olats talaga).

Going back to the thread, sana ang i-release nila eh gaya nitong Nissan Maxima nila:

Pati yung Nissan Leaf sayang din (niche market pero very tempting to get fuel-economy wise)..

if you retail the Nissan Leaf locally, it would be at least PHP1.5M without the usual taxes yet. If you include the usual taxes & import duties, it would retail around P2.2M to P2.6M

For the typical buying looking for an "economy car", spending over PHP2.0M for a hybrid or electric car is not a viable option. Also for the car to recoup it's purchase price in "fuel savings", it would take 8 to 10 years (or even more) of use.

A standard sub-compact sedan would be better even if it uses fossil fuels because it costs less than a 3rd of the hybrid/electric car so you already are saving from the moment you own the car.

Baka dapat yun Sylphy na lng nilabas nila dito para mas mura sa Sentra 200. Sablay yun Teana kasi late na sa market natin, pero features and performance is the same or better than Camry and Accord.

Won't matter if Fifth Gear hated the new March but if it sold 2,000 units in India for the first month, it's good business. And what do they expect for an economical car? 200hp? Fuel economy is top priority right now which is why the compact cars sales are increasing.

Fifth Gear was complaining because the older version was much better. The new March is like a step back for the car in design and value.

I assume you didn't even watch the video.

Youtube is blocked here at the office so you're right. Sorry for the sudden reply.

If it's quality then they are right. Australia's caradvice.com also commented on the quality, but the new March is significantly cheaper as well. It was designed as a mass market car so quality is definitely lower to keep up with the cost. What i want to know is if the quality is better or worse than the competition.

IMO, Nissan Philippines should bring their counterpart to the Innovas, Crosswinds, and Adventures.

Their closest thing to it--the Grand Livina- just do not cut it.

They don't have a counterpart for the Innova. If ever the new Serena or Elgrand. Still can't understand why Nissan don't want to release the Pathfinder in SEA. It should give a fresh face in the mid size SUV segment.
