Guys, I need your opinion.. I have a 93 Nissan B13 1.6 Auto tranny.. How much will I spend changing from matic to manual tranny? Is it worth it?

I'm just thinking ahead, coz this car has been running for 16years and I'm afraid my auto tranny will soon encounter problems...

Could you provide me the parts needed.. clutch disc.... etc... and the price of each... Thank you and hoping to get a reply soon...

My opinion. Just sell the car and get another M/T car. First of all its safer that way, and second financially speaking given na luma na yang car spending for a tranny change does not make sense anymore.

Alternative is to replace the old A/T tranny with a surplus unit...

Or simply just dont replace your trannies.

Unless you have some emotional attachment to the car (meaning it's spent a significant portion of those 16 years in your care), it makes more sense to swap cars, instead.

If you do have an emotional attachment... swapping trannies will be easier if the car is carburated. If it isn't, you may have to look for both an ECU and a transmission... and splurge on needed incidentals like the pedal assembly, shifter, center stack, etcetera... for all that work, you might as well swap engines, while you're at it.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Thanks for all your responses... and based on your inputs, it's no longer practical to change tranny from matic to manual (especially for an old car)...I am emotionally attached with the car, Ive spent so many hours maintaining the car, DIY sessions etc... and I don't want to sell it......... So I guess the best solution for busted AT tranny is to replace it with AT tranny as well (surplus would be best).... and if ever I win lottery, I will just buy a manual car... cheers!!

IMO, as long as you've been caring to your tranny (change the fluids regularly and your use the gears properly) then it should still be fine. When was the last time you changed your fluids or flushed the entire tranny (including the torque converter)? Do you feel any shift shock, erratic gear changes, hesitation or loss of power? If none then the tranny should still be fine for now
