I've been looking into getting a teana 250 xl. Would this be a good buy? Anybody know the fuel consumption of this car? Also would a refresh be coming anytime soon? I haven't really found much info regarding this car except for reviews that were dated around 2010. Thanks

Personally, i do like the Teana. I drove the 230JX before and it was close to home being a Cefiro and Sentra owner in the past. If you also like a car that isnt common on our streets, this is a nice choice. Downside here is with parts, you'll be relegated to the Nissan CASA most likely while the Nissan part shops outside will most likely carry only consumable parts (filters, etc) that are compatible with other Nissan models. New model?

On a new model, try to check what's up with other markets and perhaps teh new model will follow here a year or two, or three later.

Teana is a very good car if you're the passenger. Sarap matulog sa upuan and it feels more comfortable than the S-class and the C-class. FC should be around the same as Camry, Sonata and Accord. If ever the Teana will be replaced, the new Altima will take its place but I sincerely doubt it will come to our shores since it is built in the US. The Teana we are getting comes from Japan.

You can read reviews from caradvice.com.au. or from Malaysian car magazines.

Yeah, I personally like the Teana too after seeing in flesh couple of months back in the mall.

The seats are really comfortable and I find the interior quite spacious as well.

The only downside I can think of is its hefty price and being tied to CASA for several years due to the probable-rareness of some vehicle parts. But shouldn't bother you that much.

Late reply: I also like the Teana. Noise isolation is great for its class, plus the interior feels a bit more upscale. It can be sold as an Infiniti.

Too bad the interior only comes in beige. The black interior looks much better.

If you have to ask... ...which one is this, the 3.5 liter V6 or the 2.3 liter V6?

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Not quite sure.... didn't pay attention to fuel economy when we had it (It was Carlo who did the lon-term test.), but it's not really any worse than the 2.4 liter competition.

The Teana is nice...would have been better if it had the NA-spec VQ35DE from the Maxima which pumps out 290-hp.

I mean, you're putting in a 3.5 V6 and your top competitor is parading around a 277-hp version of his and you decide to drop in the 252-hp version of yours...I just don't get it.

De-tuning for fuel quality of FC purposes perhaps?

    Most likely.

290 hp is probably with high octane fuel. As even our high octane is suspect, a safer tune probably makes for better engine longevity. Lower power tuning also often results in better fuel economy.

    -

You don't need 300 hp in a Teana or an Accord. You don't have the brakes for it. You don't have the tires for it. And you don't have anywhere to enjoy it except perhaps on the NLEX late at night. 252 hp will get you up to 200 km/h right quick and should allow you to cruise at 230 km/h, no problem.

290 hp in a big sedan should be good for 250+ km/h.

    SHOULD being the operative word.

Because the US Maxima is speed-governed to around 230-240 km/h.

In other words, when would you be able to enjoy that extra power? Almost never.

    -

When we drove the Teana 350, never felt like it was actually lacking in power. If it had any more power, it would have to have stronger brakes, a better suspension and grippier (and noisier) tires... which would be missing the point of what the Teana is supposed to be... a quiet, comfortable luxury car.

True. Nobody needs more than 200hp on a sedan for daily driving in the country, even on the high-speed tollways. You also don't need a watch which is water-tight for 200m if all you're gonna expose it to is the occasional dip in the 8-ft. deep country club pool. You also do not need anything more than a 200W home theater system in your den or bedroom. But these things sell more than others and companies do their best to outdo their competitors because it gives their product the perceived edge. That they have put more work into it. That they have done their best to deliver a superior product to the customer.

I guess I just want to point out that had they put in the 290-hp version of the VQ (which runs on 91 octane in the US), the Teana could be the preferred executive sedan, at least alongside the Camry.
