please help: squeaking fan belt when turning a/c on

please help po, i have problem with my 2000 sentra gts. Natunog lagi un belt pag on ko aircon, pro after mga 30 secs nawawala. San po kaya problem nun? TIA

Pa check nyo po sa mechanic, baka need lang linisan at patuyuin if bago pa yung belt.
If mataas na mileage since na replacean, much better if palitan nalang baka nag degrade na yung quality ng belt after nabasa ng langis.
Mura lang yung belt at labor for replacement.

What car/engine and what are the issues or symptoms?

Accessory belts are kinda tough and a little water or oil is not going to significantly affect it. If it's making a noise, find out where it's coming from (as in, which pulley) and check for alignment, wear, or damage. Check also the belt itself, including the tensioner if it's still providing enough tension and dampening. Check the condition of all the idler pulleys, including the one on the tensioner.

Check also the alternator pulley. When worn out, the internal one-way clutch mechanism (if equipped) will start to slip and give off loud chirping noises.

pag nag iingay kasi ang belt, malamang maluwag. . try mo muna pahigpitan, . and test mu kung mag iingay pa

mahigpit naman po un belt, pinagtataka ko lang everytime na bubuksan ko lang naman ung aircon saka natunog. napacheck ko na din sa mekaniko di din nila alam kasi pagcheck ndi naman natunog, sabi nila pag continous na lang daw un tunog saka ko ipagawa. natatakot lang ako baka maputol un belt or what, sabi naman nila ok pa naman daw un belt. di ko tuloy alam kung safe ba o ndi..

same issue before, pinacheck ko sabi bearing ng alternator (makunat na), pinalitan, meron parin pero hindi na madalas pag inistart nalang, pinahigpitan ung belt, meron patin, palit belt na, un nawala, baka lang makatulong, sa naggagawa ng aircon ko pinaayos,

had this experience before na my parang uma-alingitngit sa fanbelt. had the pulleys checked, bearings greased and tensioners adjusted pero meron pa din. pinunasan yung belts and applied a little grease and voila, ayos na. madumi lang pala. hehe

Potential source of problem:
-tension of belt, not enough or too much tension
-pulley bearing, worn out
-compressor seal bearing, worn out
-belt, old

thanks for your reply mga sir.. hirap lang po kasi minsan sa mga mekaniko pag ndi nila naririnig un tunog ayaw nila gawin or icheck sabihin nila ok lang un.. malas ko naman tuwing ipapacheck ko ayaw naman tumunog..

Try mo muna basain ng tubig yun belt ng AC pagnakarinig ka ng sound, pagnawala ingay after putting water it means the belt has problem or need tightening lang pero kung di mawala ingay perhaps bearing is the culprit

May mga nakikita ako na spray can with the words Belt Dressing. Di ki na nabasa mga details on the packaging, is that something you'd have to use when replacing belts?

paki silip din kung gumagalaw ung bearing. . dapat yan walang alog. . mura lang ang bearing at belt bro. palitan muna. . sori to say, . ung mekaniko mo is sablay, . ang totoong mrunong na mekaniko, alam dpat nila gagawin dyan once cnbe mu ung concern mu, . kht pa hndi tumunog yan sa harapan nila. .

ung compressor bearing is only P400 while tensioner bearing is only P100. you can replace the tensioner bearing but the compressor but bearing you must bring it to ac technician . kaya nothing to worry dahil minor lang yan......

*TS: minsan may nakasabay ako magpaayos sa talyer na ganito problem, squeaking yung belt nung big body corolla. i saw the mechanic sprayed WD-40 on the belt, then the squeaking stopped. i don't know if it had bad effects on the belt, pero parang stop-gap procedure lang yung ginawa nya and it worked.

i once had the same problem with my ride nung nagpalit ako ng belt. brought it back to the shop, then they re-adjusted the tensioner bearing. masyado daw masikip yung unang setting. after the adjustment wala na yung tunog.
