4var, don't lower it, we have a fellow X-trail owner with 18"s (chrome) and he didn't lower it... looks good, If am not mistaken tire size niya is around 235 45R18. Si KMO at KCBoy naka 19"s.

yup ok din tingnan parang ung naka display sa casa na naka 18s tapos nilower ng konti. nakalimutan ko ung mags pero magandang 5 spoke. nakakahinayang din ilower kc suv nga. but bagay or di bagay, masama ba lowering springs sa stock shocks?
4var: Hmm ako din I have to say parang di bagay sa SUV na lowered. May nakikita ako na mga ganun, tingin ko mahihirapan sa kalye na panay lubak, let alone off-roading. But to each his own, hehe. Personally mas gusto ko nga sana taasan with bigger AT tires.
Initial impression with K&N filter: After 2 days of use, napansin ko na it takes less RPMs to achieve yung minimum acceptable acceleration para sa akin. Mabusisi ako tumingin ng RPMs, and before laging 2000-2500 bago nararamdaman ko yung acceleration (balance palagi between fuel conservation and not annoying the guy behind me by moving too slowly). With the K&N, yung acceleration comes at 1600-1800 RPMs, certainly no need to go past 2000.
Tingin ko if you dont change your driving style makakatipid ka talaga; but if you take advantage of the added power by stepping on the gas more syempre tataas din gas mo. As it is parang sobrang light yung tapak ko nowadays (another thing is I find myself stepping on the brakes more -- parang kahit di na ako umaapak sa gas mas malayo yung pag-"cruise" ng xty). Siguro sanayan lang, will report back on the next full tank about effect on mileage. Di naman dramatic yung HP improvement, pero ramdam talaga. I read somewhere mas ramdam pag nasa 4000 RPMs and up. Also that the effect would be more evident after 2-3 days, pag nag-adjust na ECU.
the QR20 and QR25 really comes alive at 5000rpm and above... I already tried accelerating from a full stop, siguro mga 10-11 secs ang acceleration from 0-100kph. You will feel a surge once you reach 5000rpm.

well about the lowering thing hehe kasi ako na yung isa sa nag lower ng suv, yung one of the reasons na nilolower naman yung suv is for more sporty look at yung handling nya mas improved talga pag nagcorner ka denag swasway at stable parin kasma na nito yung big mags = sporty look, feel so i feel wala naman talga masama sa lowering ng mga suv at pag nakalower naman de naman to the fact na hindi na sila makakaoffroad e
yung iba naman hilig off roading so ginagawa namna nililift naman at nilalakihan goma the complete opposite of the sporty look
well kanya kanya na yan kng stock, sport or off road ang look na habol mopero i dont really agree na "sayang" ang suv pag nilower and you dont take those expensive suvs off road anyways like yung mga range rover, escalade, x5, xc90, etc khit na nakakaoffroad sila so might as well go for the sporty look and put on big mags and lower it for better stance pag de talga nakalower ang nakamags na sasakyan ang sama e hehehe pwera na kung euro sedans na de ganun kasama tignan kahit na stock springs gamit
regarding kung masisira shocks pag de mo pinalitan kung naglower: oo mas mabilis masira yng shocks pero i really dont think na GANUN KABILIS masisira yung shocks ! altis ko nga hanggang ngayon ayos parin shocks e 3 yrs na dumaan na sa lahat i think it would take like 10yrs para masira talga yung shcoks mo dahil sa lowering ...
filter: pag nagfilter ka talaga mas titipid talga ang sasakyan mo dahil mas madali na tong hihigop ng air e mas hindi na mahihirapan sasakyan mo dagdag narin to sa power na makakatulong sa power to weight ratio, pag hinataw mo na at tinake advantage mo like caloymd said yung added power then dun na talga tatakaw yung sasakyan
4var: o nga pala since rav4 karin, kapatid ko nakarav4 at nung nilower nya yung rav4 namin mas gumanda ng di hamak yung ride at handling nya way much better than the stock na matalon at matagtag

doc caloy: that's what exactly i felt on my xty after i installed the KNN filter. as in very light pressure on the gas pedal to make your xty move. am really satisfied with my xty when it comes to accelaration. am a bit dissapointed lang sa suspension kasi its on the "hard" side. i remember tuloy the commercial of CRV wherein they take pride that the CRV's suspension is like that of the sedan. but my biggest disappointment is the easily scratched plastic interiors and dash. Bad trip talaga! ang dami ng gasgas ng xty ko.. i wonder why nissan came up with such a low class plastic interior..
Kmo: oo nga naman, forgot about the better on-road handling you get pag lowered, hehe. Depende lang talaga sa ginagawa mo sa kotse, kung anong purpose mo sa mods.
Hmm yung younger brother ko na mahilig din sa sporty look pinalitan yung mags ng mazda 323 niya (ewan kung anong size, basta parang malaki) nagkaproblema nung may nadaanan siya na lubak sa edsa -- nagkaroon ng crack yung mags, inis na inis siya! Mga 80km/h lang daw ang takbo niya. Mas maingat lang talaga siguro dapat when you go for those really thin tires and huge mags.
ILD: Talaga? Ayaw nila sa K&N filter? Naku, dapat siguro ibalik ko yung stock tuwing mileage check-up! Pero mas nararamdaman ko na improvement, parang ang light ng tapak ko ngayon sa gas.
Hmm lagi ko naaalala yung stock speakers na nakita ko, gusto ko na talaga palitan (pag may pera na ulit). Iniisip ko yung Infinity kappa series, pero di ko alam kung kakasya (depth-wise). Anyone know about this? Also sa kappa kelangan talaga ng amp, gastos nanaman. Sa Reference series ng infinity kahit walang amp ok naman sounds, 1500 each yun.
Doc: kahit na hindi infinity amps ok naman. Daming mga amps sa market ngayon depending on your budget. As for the mounting dept I think its around 4-5inches last time I checked.

Sana nga wala nalang silang sabihin sa Commonwealth. May sinabi din sa K&N website na hindi daw pwde i-require ng dealership ang specific filter nila, unless they provide it free of charge, and so di daw dapat i-void ang warranty kung gumamit ka ng K&N filter (nga lang US laws yan, di siguro applicable sa atin).Originally Posted by kmo
