yep.

ibig ba sabihin kung center mounted and nissan wants to save up on manufacturing costs for both left-hand and right-hand versions, e pareho yung mechanicals underneath the skin? AFAIK, RHD and LHD versions of the same car differ parin sa mechanical config. Just look at the RHD versions of yung Lancer pizza for example, iba yung location ng battery, air intake, etc.

If the mechanicals underneath the Xtrail are indeed identical for RHD and LHD versions (cept for the steering column and pedals), e baka mas mura pa kung import na lang from japan tapos pa-convert na lang. hehe!

Kung hinde, and natipid lang na costs ng nissan is the cost of manufacturing the dash.

Pati mga GEN I Pajero.

The center mounted gauge stack is popular today because according to research done by manufacturers, mas madali daw itong basahin while looking at the road. Pero siyempre, some of us (like me) still like to have the instruments right in front of the driver.

and also not to scare your passengers that you're running 160kph na pala! hehehe!

kevin, naiiba lang yung mga location ng intake, battery kasi they have to make way for the steering column and hydrovac ng brakes. the reason ang hirap i-convert ng skyline is that the engine is canted towards the left hand side, in our case te driver side, kaya ang hirap mag make way for the column and hydrovac. but since magaling ang pilipino, nako-convert natin ang skyline. how? well i don't really know!

Yup, I do believe that the instrument gauges were put in te center so that the driver wont have to turn down their head just to look at it. Especially for those na medyo nahihirapan sa pagbabasa...

What is unusual and somehow good for the xtrail is the fiber/polymer front fenders... it ain't metal anymore! Also iwas sa dents kung masandalan or matusok. And u should see the face of someone kapag accidentally nasandalan nya yung fenders... lulubog sya then when released, goes back to it original shape... we're not sure thou kung kapag sobrang diin eh babalik pa sya, or maging permanent na yun... he he he...

Drawback siguro is when it gets ripped off. Definitely di pwedeng pukpok at masilya duon... you'll have to get new fenders...

Ford uses fiber/polymer (in short, plastic) for the whole bed of the Sport Trac both inside and out.

It is the same material used on most automotive bumpers nowadays.

kc lumalabas mas mura yung escape 4x4 againsta 4x4 xtrail ....

Same material siya as the bumpers on most of today's cars. So the same repair procedures apply.

both are 2.0L, DOHC in line 4 cylinder engines.

but there's a big difference in engine performance

    escape ZETEC engine - 130 hp*5400 rpm, 183 Nm*4500 rpm

    x-trail QR20DE - 150 hp*6000 rpm, 200 Nm*4000 rpm

    prices:
    escape 4x4 2.0L AT - 1,310,000
    x-trail 4x4 2.0L AT - 1,333,000

if you ask me, i wouldn't mind spending 23,000 more for lots more engine power and features. ;)

23,000 pesos for an extra 20 horses sounds like a really good deal (kaya lang mukhang mas magastos sa gas)...

    how's the ride ? start-stop sa traffic ? fuel mileage ?

wala raw pila sa x-trail - per a salesperson from Nissan Gallery Quezon ave. ..........

    Check www.x-trail.net for the pics.
